Chapter 6: See Me?! (1)
***
“I told you it doesn’t matter...” Astar’s cold voice and clean features made him look like an emotionless doll which had beauty but no heart to speak off. He simply looked over at Ezikiel and then his eyes drifted somewhere else as he asked. “Just... tell me what is that behind you?”
“What is what behind me? The oven? It’s a pretty old model, they don’t sell them anymore-” Ezikiel had began explaining but the other interrupted him once more.
“Not that, the floating human torso that’s see through over there...” Astar explained as he pointed towards Weiss who was trying to sneakily make an exit while the other wasn’t looking.
“What?” Ezikiel asked as he turned to look at where the man was pointing and sure enough it was the ghost he was referring to all along. ‘It can’t be...’ He thought to himself.
“I think he means, me.” Weiss said as he pointed to himself casually as he moved back again to join the conversation.
“You can see him, sir?!” Ezikiel asked in great surprise as he looked wide eyed at his boss and then at the ghost. “He can see you!!” He said once more then looked back at his boss again.
“I guess so... wait... YOU CAN SEE ME?!” Weiss asked in an even more exaggerated fashion than before. Almost as if his eyes would pop out of his non existent skull if he was any more surprised.
“I can hear you as well, now stop yelling...” Astar said while putting a hand up to his ear as if it was hurting. “Such a nuisance really...”
“Ugh... both of you had the same reaction, aren’t you two made in Heaven...~” Weiss spoke with a mockery tone of voice while gesturing with his hand, pointing upwards.
“Weiss, one more word... I swear to God, I will-” Ezikiel was interrupted by the ghost again.
“Haha! I don’t care about that guy! He left me to wander the earth aimlessly! Why would I care if you swear to him?” Weiss burst out laughing while flying around and then stopping in front of Astar to look at him more closely.
“Alright then, I’ll make sure to make your existence here as horrid as the very depths of Hell if you do not shut the f**k up right now.” Ezikiel corrected his statement, he didn’t yell, he didn’t raise his voice at the slightest yet his words held no less meaning than if he would have.
“......!” Weiss instantly made a gesture as if he was locking his lips and lowered himself to the ground as if he was sitting down like an obedient puppy. He didn’t dare make another sound.
“I’m really sorry about that... as you can see this is a very complicated situation...” Ezikiel paused as he looked at the man, as if waiting for him to interrupt once more.
“Go on.” This time however, Astar was encouraging the man to explain himself properly. He wanted to understand just what that entity was doing there and what it did to him in particular.
“It’s that... Weiss! How about you explain what you did, huh?” Ezikiel turned around to the ghost and glared at him in a warning manner.
“Now you want me to talk?” Weiss complained as he moved closer to Aster and spoke up: “I possessed your body because I noticed Ezikiel was acting nice to you... So I wanted to play a trick on him. However he pushed me out of your body with his life force and then threatened to beat me up. Honestly your employee is a brute—” At that he glanced at the man who had a merciless gaze on his face. “...a beautiful person and a very kindhearted individual, indeed... um... so you’re feeling nauseous because of that... and also I’m a ghost if you haven’t noticed... I don’t have legs or anything, just a soul floating around really.”
“So you’re a soul of a human that’s bond to earth?” Aster asked a rather normal question, he didn’t seem too stunned by the presence of an unknown entity, if anything he was far too calm and collected.
“Yes, something like that... Though I can’t really tell you much because I don’t remember anything about my past...” Weiss said while glancing around the room, he flew to the very end where the windows were and grabbed a broken picture frame then brought it back to the two men. “I don’t know why but I feel most attached to this right here... Maybe it was something important to me while I was alive... I don’t know...”
“Ezikiel, how did you find this ghost here?” Aster calmly turned to his employee and asked him while scratching the back of his head.
“My name’s Weiss!” Weiss chimed in like an impatient child not being noticed.
“Weiss... how did you find him?” Aster corrected himself with a loud sigh and repeated his question once more.
“I didn’t find him actually, he’s a freeloader at my house, I never invited him here either, he was bought with the property I guess.” Ezikiel explained as he looked down at the ground, he didn’t dare to look his employer in his eyes.
“I see... what an unlucky investment.” Aster replied while crossing his arms. Recognizing what a burden such a thing was.
“Indeed.” Ezikiel was quick to agree with him, he raised his eyes ever so slightly as if he was happy to get the least bit of understanding from his employer.
“Why are the two of you talking as if I’m not here?! I’ll curse you both!” Weiss showed his rage by flailing his transparent arms all around like a toddler throwing a fit over not getting the toy it wanted.
“Are you doing to find a way to rid yourself of this nuisance?” Aster asked in a calm voice while moving closer to Weiss to observe him, he tried to touch him as well but his hand passed though the ghost as any other object would.
“I am still searching for a way to do that.” Ezikiel confirmed.
“Haha... good luck with that! The house is mine, I will remain here for many more decades after you’re no longer roaming this earth... You can’t get rid of me no matter what you do.” Weiss explained in an almost arrogant sounding manner.
“You should consider selling the house at this point... Although I don’t believe there will be anyone willing to buy it with this annoying ghost in here...” Aster gave his own piece of advice to the man that he seemed to almost pity for being in such a predicament.
“Unfortunately I won’t be able to sell it without taking a huge loss... although...” Ezikiel glanced at Weiss who was imitating how a person would pick their ear and then look at their finger to check it if was dirty. “...maybe I’d be willing to take it...” He muttered under his breath.
“Do whatever you’d like but I am staying right here... dammit I gave that dramatic speech about my past and how I don’t have any memories and both of you are just thinking about money and work. What a bother...” Weiss was muttering to himself like a rebellious teenager.
“I’ll be leaving now, since I’ve already checked the documents and I didn’t see any issue with them.” Aster said while grabbing his coat again and heading for the door.
“I’m glad to hear that sir, please call me if there is anything else you’d like me to do for you...” Ezikiel said while following after him and opening the door for the man.
“Ezikiel...” Aster paused in front of the door and looked at the man, demanding his attention by calling out his name.
“Yes, sir?” Ezikiel asked a bit confused.
“I... think you’re doing a good job, so you shouldn’t think I don’t appreciate the effort you put in, despite me not showing it.” After those words left Aster’s mouth he headed out the door quicker than a phantom would, erasing his presence from the house.
“Did my boss just... praise me?” Ezikiel closed the door and the words spilled out of his mouth in disbelief.
“I guess even he felt bad after you told him he wasn’t appreciating you at work.” Weiss said while looking through the window, watching as Aster entered his expensive car and drove off the property soon after.
“Shit... he said it because of that?!” Ezikiel looked panicked all over again as he grabbed the top of his head, he looked rather hopeless.
“Why else?” Weiss asked while simply waving his hand around. “I doubt he would be as kind to you just because you exchanged saliva for a bit. Ah!” He paused as if he suddenly remembered something. “Ezikiel you’re a really lousy kisser. I swear a fish would have less sloppy technique than you.” He said with a low chuckle. “Though the expressions you make are really adorable so maybe that was why he said those nice things about you.”
“Honestly Weiss... I hate your guts...” Ezikiel said as he glanced up at the ghost that didn’t seem to know when to shut up.
“Tough luck, I don’t have any guts to hate. Does that mean you secretly like me?” Weiss asked in an interested but also completely mocking tone of voice.
“Tsk...” Ezikiel turned his back to the ghost, he headed back to the living room, annoyed. Leaving Weiss to wander about on his own as he usually did...
