I wound up having to throw together a dinner for five top employees from Roping Cowboys. Cocktails (Jack and Cokes) were at seven and dinner (Cornish hens, baby red potatoes lathered in olive oil, and homegrown carrots) was to be plated at eight. According to my mental schedule, I’d pass out dessert (a red velvet triple-layer cake that I’d picked up just that afternoon at the Pilar LeDong Bakery) at about nine. The guests would leave around ten, which offered me plenty of time to have a discussion with Gray about my recent talks with Toby.
