Chapter Thirty-Five:

“There is a time and a place for that and it is not here!” Snapped my Mother reaching across the table and yanking the cellphone out of my hand. She locked the screen and set it next to her on the table. The phone immediately started buzzing and playing Cool for the Summer by Demi Lovato.
“Can I have it back please?” I begged reaching for the phone.
My Mother snatched it off the table, silenced it and stuffed it in her pants pocket. “You can have it back when we finish this meal.” Retorted my Mom. Her demeanor immediately changed to one of someone on guard and suddenly my Father appeared and sat at the table between my Mother and me.
“You guys started lunch without me?” He asked sulkily as he slumped in his seat.
“We only started a minute ago.” Murmur
