Chapter 4

“D-don’t…” Jesse gasped out. “Don’t what, babe?” Adler smirked and took a step forward. She flinched at that. “Don’t look at me like that.” His dark lustful gaze made her feel strangely nauseous. “Didn’t you just call me a bully?” “I…ah…shit…” She muttered. Adler could see she was trembling now…knowing she was trapped. He chuckled. “Go out with me.” He didn’t even phrase it as a question. That sour look twisted her features again. “Are you f*****g serious!? No way in hell!” “Then I’ll show you how much of a bully I can be…until you do.” He snarled, his top lip lifting on one side as his tongue ran along his teeth. She really scowled at him now, he realised then where that saying ‘if looks could kill’ came from…he couldn’t help but find it cute, foxes weren’t any match for wolves…and witches…well, he knew she was only just starting her training in that… “Go f**k yourself, Adler…and take that stalking freak with you!” Jesse yelled at him, backing up a few more steps in fright as she pointed over his shoulder. Adler guessed Trey had made an appearance. He couldn’t ignore the fear in Jesse’s eyes though and something about that disturbingly made his c0ck twitch in delight, but he knew he had to calm the situation down. He put his hands in the pockets of his hoodie and leaned his weight back casually on one leg, appearing far less threatening. “I said I wouldn’t hurt you…trust me a little…” He tilted his head at her as he smirked. Jesse was clearly close to full panic mode now there was two of them…her eyes darting around as she fidgeted on her feet. At five foot six she wasn’t short for a fox or a human…but when faced with these two wolves she was like a child and she had nowhere to run. “Let me go then…” She pleaded now, her voice strained. Adler took his phone out of his pocket. “If you won’t go out with me, at least give me your number.” He held it out to her. She looked at it like he was handing her a bomb, she glanced up and he loved to see the fiery spark in her intense green eyes and the way her tongue darted out over her lips nervously. “Will you let me go if I do?” Adler tilted his head the opposite way, she was calculating…very foxy of her. “Sure…” She tightened her folded arms defiantly, making no move to take the phone. Adler heard Trey chuckle behind him at her attempt at defiance. He squinted his eyes at her, studying her, she didn’t believe him. He sighed and rubbed the edge of his phone over his forehead in frustration. “Give me your number and I promise you can leave…safely.” He held his phone out with an intense gaze…daring her. She frowned and looked at the phone then at his face then back to the phone. Adler watched, amused…then she did the most amazing thing. She sucked her bottom lip into her mouth and bit on it with her top teeth, pulling it out slowly as her mind was ticking over what to do. Adler watched that bottom lip get tortured then pop out of her teeth with a shine of wetness on its full pouty surface, wishing it was his teeth doing that, his c0ck went rigid and he nearly slipped full control of himself over to the beast within him. He gathered his thoughts quickly pushing it back with difficulty. What the hell was happening to him, it wasn’t near the full moon… Damn! Foxes were sexy little b!tches, but he didn’t usually look at them. Wolves and foxes didn’t mix…but this girl was something superior…just what type of fox was she? He blinked startled as she suddenly moved, unfolding her arms and snatching his phone out of his grasp and retreating back again. Had she waited for him to look distracted before making her move? He heard Trey chuckle again. What the hell was so damn amusing? She fiddled with his phone for a moment then threw it back at him with a glare and a huff blowing a lock of hair from her face. He caught it expertly…he did excel at sports…and looked at the new entry in his contact’s list. “What about your messenger contacts…what apps do you use?” She sneered at him. Actually lifted her top lip and showed her teeth. He growled and stepped forward in warning, his alpha wolf not liking her challenge. Her eyes went wide and she backed up, lowering her gaze. Again his c0ck jumped as he struggled to keep control. “Ah…” She said nervously. “That’s for next time…don’t change the rules of engagement.” His eyes widened and his eyebrows raised. “The rules?” He chuckled. “Okay…fair enough…but let me check this number is actually yours…take your phone out.” He watched her take her phone out of her back pocket and then hit call. Her phone lit up in the darkness with a cascade of dulcet notes from some tune he didn’t recognise. Satisfied he hung up. “Make sure to save my number…and answer my calls. We’ll go first…okay?” She nodded, her eyes wide and bright as her tongue flicked out over those full pouty lips once more. He smiled that lady killer smile at her. “See you tomorrow, babe.” He turned and walked off, grabbing Trey by the shoulder and dragging him away with him. Jesse crumpled down to the ground and buried her head in her arms, trying to steady her breathing and her hammering heart. “What the hell was that?” She breathed. She couldn’t believe her bad luck. First the scariest guy in the whole university tried to get her to go out with him and now his best friend and the most popular guy on campus and an alpha to boot was giving it a go…was this some kind of sport for them? She hadn’t heard of them causing trouble for female foxes before…although most of the foxes at the university would happy go there…probably. She knew Trey was a player…but didn’t really know much about Adler expect for the fact that every girl wanted to be with him. She knew what she actually was attracted human males, she would need that skill as she developed her power…but werewolves? Something about this didn’t sit well with her, problem was she had no one to ask…no one knew what she really was… She heard the truck start up and pull away, it’s rumbling V8 engine noise growing fainter. She sighed in relief and stood up. She walked back to the sidewalk and turned the opposite way to head home looking at her phone, noticing the time. “Sh!t, I’m late…” She muttered. A flash white Audi came hurtling down the street, screeching to a halt beside her. She rolled her eyes. No rest for the wicked they say… “Where have you been?” A demanding voice called out from the car. “We’ve been searching for you for the last hour!” Jesse calmly stared at the car full of male foxes, the one hanging out of the passenger side window was a cute looking blond with blue eyes. The driver was dark haired with matching blue eyes. The Silva brothers, also college students, two years older and silver foxes, both of them all trouble with a capital ‘T’. “Get in!” The blond one, known as Caspar, ordered her. Jesse scowled but as one of the guys from the back seat opened the door and got out to let her in she huffed in annoyance. “Really? You guys aren’t the f*****g mafia you know…” These guys were always trying to round up and control the fox women, they also ran as a gang behind the Red Fox family that owned the town. So, yeah…they thought they were like mafia…Jesse rolled her eyes…two bit gangsters is all they were. Caspar laughed sarcastically. “No? Just get in!” He snarled fiercely. Jesse reluctantly got in, sandwiched between two fox males that leered at her as Caspar sat forward and closed the window. “Why are you such a f*****g nuisance?” He muttered as his brother hit the gas and the car took off up the road with a squeal of rubber. . Adler stepped out of the shadows, his face like thunder. He had told Trey to drive off without him, he wanted merely to follow Jesse home to make sure she got there safe. He did not expect to see her get picked up by a car full of older male foxes and ordered to get in their car! He growled, his fists clenched tightly. He was going to get to the bottom of that tomorrow! .
