Chapter 9 Arousal and tension hung heavy in the air. Jordan couldn’t tear his gaze away from Beckett’s. His gut was tight, his whole body thrumming. Beckett stood stock still, his hand outstretched, that bite of cake held in his fingers. Jordan swallowed and then licked his lips and swallowed again. All he had to do was lean forward, take Beckett’s fingers into his mouth, and lick them clean. Now he knew Beckett was interested, and there was no longer the employment situation hanging over their heads. He could take what he wanted. So why did he hesitate?
