Chapter 8 The moment Beck pulled up in front of the processing barn, Jordan jumped out and headed for the back of the truck. By the time Beck joined him, he was already unpacking the crates. Beckett took the empties from him, walked inside, and stacked them neatly. The assembly line method was efficient, and it only took them ten or fifteen minutes to unload everything. As soon as they were done, Beck knew Jordan would tense up and get ready to bolt. He seemed steadier and more comfortable when he had a task to perform, but once it was complete, Jordan acted like he didn’t know what to do with himself. When Jordan followed him inside with the last two crates, Beck’s prediction came true. Jordan dropped his gaze and lifted a hand to rub the back of his neck. “Well, uh…I guess that’s it.”
