DENI’S POV As soon as Deni had left the hall, she had to stop to catch her breath. So it was true. They really were here. Her papa had just broken the news to them and only a second later did they arrive. It was even worse that they were the same men she had encountered at the fields. The man whom she had just engaged in a trade of words, was the very same man that she had wanted to strangle when she had seen him with Angel. These men were here to pick one of them to wed. She wondered who it was, that was their leader. Despite how much the blonde monster had been acting, it was possible that he master was different from him. That their master had not yet arrived. Maybe their master was nice and pleasant. Maybe he was not as bad as the man she had just spoken to. She did not want to believe that it was that monster who was going to marry one of her sisters or maybe even her. He was so mean. He did not smile, and his face was stone cold. She doubted that he feet smiled. Even if he did, it would definitely not fit him. She shivered when she thought of him. The man who was to marry one of them was yet to arrive. She prayed that the Alpha Alaric was going to be kind hearted and warm. He was going to take care of whoever he chose and grow to love them. If it was that man, none of her sisters would survive, rather they would sit and cry. “Deni!” This time it was Jade. “I heard that they have come.” She said. “Is it true?” Deni shrugged. “I don’t know yet. But we do have visitors. We have to wait till papa sends for us.” Then she left her sister standing there. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ALARIC’S POV By the time Alaric had met his future father in law, he was furious. “Can you please forgive me for wasting your time.” He apologised. “I only told my daughters of what was going on today.” “You have been aware for over a week now.” Alaric said. “Why did you not tell them?” “They are very, well Uhmm errr tender.” He said making gestures with his hands. “You have to be very easy on them.” All these Alaric was hearing was not making sense to him. He wanted to get his blasted wife and get the hell out of this godforsaken place. “Where is my wife?” Alaric went straight to the point. “You and your men look tired. You have had a very long journey.” The Earl said. “You must stay overnight and rest here.” “I have no intentions of remaining here.” Alaric said. “I’ve fought wars all my life and I have never been tired. I want my wife and to leave with her.” The early backed out. Obviously this was not what he had been expecting. He wondered which of his poor daughters would follow this mad man home. He couldn’t even think of which of his daughters would be able to go with him. “Of course.” The Earl said. “One of my men would send for the girls.” He said nodding at one of his guards and they left. “Girls?” Alaric said in confusion. “Yes Girls.” He said. “I have five daughters. You’re going to have to choose one of them.” Alaric looked at the man. He had not been told this part. He had assumed that it was going to be one girl assigned to him, now he had to pick out of five? This was outrageous. Alaric grunted and leaned in his chair. “Whatever it is I just want to leave.” He said. Then the guard came and the girls started to troop in. Four of them came in and he did not see the brat who had ridiculed him in front of his men. Maybe she was not among. “Jade, Genevieve, Elena, Lana.” The Earl called them out. They were all very beautiful girls and their head were cast down. Down in submission just like how he liked his women. How he wanted his women to be. “And the fifth?” He asked. “That would be Deni.” The Earl said. “Deni? Deni? Where is your sister?” He asked the others. Then footsteps were heard and a girl with red hair came into the room. Alaric looked at her. She was not the one he had met on the fields and in the house earlier. So she was not even one of the Earl’s daughters and she had been standing in like she was. “This is All of them?” Alaric asked as he watched the fifth pass. “Sorry Papa.” A familiar voice apologised. Alaric turned and to his dismay the red headed girl just went by instead of joining the rest of the girls standing by. And no one other than the rude brat came and stood beside the other girls. The other girl picked up some trays and left, she was just a made. “And Deni.” The Earl said. “Welcome Alpha Alaric.” Then all the girls curtsied. Alaric watched them. So she had not been bluffing. She was actually his daughter. All the other girls had their head downcast. She too did, but he could see that she was defiant. Her head was downcast yes, but she did because she had to, not because she was wanted to. “Raise your head.” He told them. And they all did. “Come.” He nodded to the first one. She came and stood before him. He saw that she was trembling in fear of him. He liked that. It boosted his ego. He looked at her up and down and assessed her. “Next.” He said with such indifference. The other one looked at her sibling with such uncertainty, but she was prompted to go forward. When she came, she was even trembling more than the first. He went with all of them, until it came to Deni’s turn. “Come here.” He said with a more commanding tone. He wanted to see if she would obey him, if she would come to him. And she did. She walked up to him, but with her head held up high. She didn’t want to come obviously, but she did it with pride. When she came up to him, she was not trembling with fear. She looked at him right into his eyes. He wanted to make her bend. Bend to his will. Bend to his own words, Bend to his orders. He looked her up and down and let his eyes trace her body. He looked at the cleavage heaped above her chest. It was full and made him salivate. He wondered what her body was underneath the dress she wore. He wanted to see her in her full glory. He looked at her way longer than he looked at any of the other girls. He could see she was furious. She was being humiliated and she knew it. He knew that she could not leave until he said so. He looked at her, he didn’t smile , neither did she. “Go.” He said finally. Then he turned to the Earl. “I have made my decision.”
