Chapter 2 First Day In Their Town

Mike was shoveling out stalls when he heard them come into the stable. spirited mood from their ride. They were leading the horses back into their stalls where they were going to cool them down. Still in their free Mike came out of the last stall to introduce himself he hadn’t met Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, yet. He stuck out his hand. He said, “Hi. My name is Mike. Sorry I haven’t had the chance to come up to the house and meet you yet.

Corey shook his hand and said, “My name is Corey and this is my wife Camille.” She shook his hand and gave him a smile because he looked like he might just be ready to jump out of his skin. His panic mode was written like a book all over his face. Cheeks flushed and bright red like heat was radiating from them. About that time Bradley walked through the door. It couldn’t have been soon enough for Mike.

“I see you’ve met Corey and Camille.” Bradley said as he walked up. Mike just stared at him and shook his head yes.

“Here,” Bradley said holding out his hand for the reigns of the two horses. “Why don’t you let Mike and I cool them down. You guys go and enjoy the rest of your day. I know it’s still early and there is so much exploring left for ya’ll to do. I figure you’re also both tired from your flight getting in when it did. I know I’m always tired after a long flight.”

“You guys sure you don’t mind?” Camille asked.

“No, sure don’t. That is what you pay us for. You guys get out of here and go have some fun. Have you ever been to the Bayou?”

“Can’t say that we have,” Corey replied. “Hey are there any car dealerships nearby?”

“Yeah. There are quite a few in town. Why you looking to buy one? My Dad owns the very first one on the left as you start through town. It’ not huge but our cars are good and our prices are fair. He even has some really cool ones that are new. They came to the lot just yesterday. Before you go anywhere else will you give our lot a chance and check it first?”

“Sure, we’ll go see what you’ve got to offer.” Corey told him.

“Honey,” he turned to look at her, “Do you feel like going into town for a while and check out some cars. The quicker we get the rental back the better. It’s just a waste of money if we can find one to buy I’d rather be doing that.”

“Sure. You know me I am always up for buying something new. The bigger the better.” She looked at him and that look she knew she’d find on his face had sure enough landed there and she couldn’t help herself she just busted out laughing.

“You just think you’re funny. Don’t you?”

She just glanced over her shoulder and gave him her crazy little grin. Then she turned back around and darted forward. However, it didn’t take him long with those legs to catch her. He snatched her up

off the ground and lifted her in the air spinning her around. When he sat her down she couldn’t see anything her head was spinning so fast that everything around her looked like a blur.

“That is so not fair. Your legs make twice mine which allows you to take twice as many steps too.” She looked over at him pouting.

“I never said I would play fair. Besides that this is your little game remember you started it?”

They just took one look at each other and started cracking up laughing. Neither one could seem to shut it down. So they just laughed until the hysteria wore off. Then they headed for the car.

He got in and rolled the windows down and turned up the radio. Miranda Lambert’s Bluebird was on the radio. He knew that was her favorite at this point in time. She reached over and turned it up and then they were off.

Corey did as he promised he pulled onto Bradly’s dad’s lot. Just with a glance around he knew he would be buying their cars here beyond a shadow of a doubt. There were just too many cool cars on this lot than to ever go step foot on another. She could see the gleam in his eye and she knew Bradley’s dad was going to be very proud of his son for recommending them for us. Because my husband was definitely not leaving that lot unless it was in some brand new cool car. She looked over at him again and he was at a loss. His eyes were just sparkling bright as they darted around at all the choices he had.

Something had caught his eye he turned his head real fast and she looked over to where he was looking and then she seen it his dream car a black Jaguar but she also knew it would have to be a brand new one or have minimum mileage because that is the only way he would buy a car. It’s hard for him to get rid of something that he just has to have, like a car, and he wants it to last for the long haul. Before her thought was even finished he was already walking towards it. Now it was the salesman’s turn for his eyes to sparkle as he’s walking up to meet him. She couldn’t help but think they looked like two little boys in a candy store. They shook hands. They started talking so she started walking around looking in the windows of other cars. Until she seen something that caught her eye and made her turn her head all the way around. About that time he looked up and seen her moving quickly he followed her movements to where she was going. She had seen her dream car a Camaro that was a dark purple with metal flakes that made it sparkle and when the light hits the paint it makes it appear to change colors. He looked at the salesman and what year is that Camaro she is looking at? Just like this one a 2020. Well today may be your lucky day you might just get to sell two. That is if you can finance two. Sure can you want to go take a look? I guess I better. If she ain’t happy no one’s happy. You know what I mean? “Yes got one just like her.” The salesman replied.

Off they went over to where she was at. Still gazing at that Camaro. 0 miles it hadn’t even made it off the lot. “What do you think honey? Can I have it?”

“Are you sure that’s the one you want. It’s going to be your car for quite some time. I know and I love it. What’s not to love it even has T-tops. You know I’ve always wanted one of these.”

“Okay it’s yours then. I’m going to take the Black Jaguar that I was looking at.”

The salesman was shooing them into the office. He had never closed a deal on any of the cars they picked out and now to have 2 in one setting was just blowing his mind. He kept thinking I bet their credit won’t go through or something like that. Credit popped up and they were good to go. Just wait until he called the little old lady and told her about this one. She will be ecstatic. Because he gets commission off everything he sales.

“Is Bradley’s dad around the one who owns the lot?” Corey asked.

“Why yes he’s always here. This is his second home. Do you know him?”

“No but we met his son today. He is one of the workers in our stalls at Cypress Hill.”

“I’ll get him right away for you.”

A tall man came up to them. They shook hands. “My salesman said that you would like to see me.”

“Yes we actually just wanted you to know that your son Bradley is working as a stable hand out on our property. Anyway he is the one that recommended this place to us. I just wanted you to know that he is putting forth effort into your place. Sometimes it just helps to know these things.

“Yeah I am real proud of Bradley for standing on his own two feet. Yet that makes me happy that he hasn’t forgot his dear old man and our car lot. One day it will be his. No time soon, mind you, but one day. I seen you purchased the Jaguar and Camaro. Are ya’ll going to be in town for a while?”

“Yeah, We just purchased the hotel in town and we also purchased Cypress Hill. This one has been empty a while. We’re planning on having a banquet once we get the place ironed out. We’ll send you and your wife an invitation. Does that sound good to you?” Camille said.

“Sure. Sound good to me. We will be there as long as nothing is up on that night.”

They all shook hands one more time and set the deals.

“Oh s**t,” she said. What are we going to do about the other car?”

“We’ll just send someone after when we get back. Possibly Bradley. So his dad can boast on him about getting both those cars sold. You could tell they’ve never had that kind of luck before. It was just

in their faces. That is what makes me happy. Just to spend our money and what makes us happy makes everyone else happy too.”

Arriving back at the hotel and in different cars. They knew they had a lot to do. First things first. They needed to get with what little help they had hired so far. So much for not going into the hotel that day. Corey went off looking for the 3 guys they had hired to do the repairs and the count for banquets. What all was needed.

Camille went looking for the 3 girls they had hired for going through the rooms to see what they lacked and might could use.

Corey spotted the guys down the hall with clipboards. So he was assuming that was them.

He walked up and introduced himself as Corey and they all shook hands. They were Aaron, Caleb, and Dante.

“So where are we at?” Corey asked.

Aaron was the one to answer. “Well there is quite a few repairs to be done especially since the hotel has set empty for such a long period of time. It’s nothing that we can’t handle I think it just may take putting a crew together to help take care of things. As far as the banquet halls go we have 200 tables and 4,000 chairs. Some lighting sources for the stages and things like that. We have enough flooring to make several dance floors at one time. There are about 100 of the long tables that are used for like the bride and grooms table, speaker’s tables, and buffet tables. Just for starters. When do you plan on opening?”

“As soon as possible. We also know that it takes time and effort to make this place fantastic all over again. When we buy one of these properties we hope to have them up and running. First banquet under its sleeve. What we usually shoot for is 1 month.”

“With a crew I would say it can be done.”

“I’ll get you whatever you need.

Today we are just stopping by to see how things are going.

Meanwhile Camille had found Natalie, Lindy and Reagan, the house keepers, and in charge of whatever is needed in the rooms. Bedding, towels and wash rags, and how many soaps. Things like this that requires a woman’s touch. Camille introduced herself and listened to all they had to say so far. Them needing a bigger crew to in order to get things done and have it ready by their expectations. Camille told them whatever they needed and that she would go through the list of prospects for the hiring but if they knew extra girls that were good and needed a job to just have them make a list of names and phone numbers and get that to her in the morning she would call them in to meet with her.

“No promises, however if I find them suitable, I will give them a try. We won’t be staying long this afternoon. This is our first day in town and at our new home. So we’d really like to enjoy some of it before all the grueling stuff begins.”

Corey and Camille had planned a date night for themselves for their 1st day in town. First, they had reservations for 7:00 at Shang Gra La Restaurant, next they were going to see the movie, Top Gun, at the drive in, and last but not least they were going to go home and get in their spa. To get some of that “Us” time Camille was so ready for just to be in her lover’s arms.

At 7:00 pm they arrived at the restaurant. He ordered Steak and Lobster and she ordered Shrimp and Lobster. A nice bottle of Red Wine. The server brought the wine first. Letting the gentleman test it. At his okay, he poured a second glass for her.

As the band started they were playing Beautiful, Crazy and they took their place on the dance floor. With no complaint from the other one. They were just as smooth on the dance floor as making love to each other. Which she hoped they weren’t too tired for it because it was long overdue. Plus she had read somewhere that you must make love the first night in your new house to bring good luck to it. Right now she figured they needed as much good luck as they could get.

After they ate and wrapped up the left overs. There was enough to feed Donna and both of her wait staff. They headed off to the drive in. They had seen this movie quite a few times, but it was the only one playing that they could watch over and over. It was one of their favorites.

Once they were back at the house and sure no one was left inside. They locked the doors and pulled the drapes she had put up earlier that day in the sun room. They began to undress just tossing their clothes wherever they might land. Then they both crawled into the hot tub. He kissed her ravenously and couldn’t wait to feel her beautiful body up against his. Sit over here closer he said. So she moved into him with her back to his chest.

“I’m not sure I can wait much longer he whispered into her ear.”

“Me neither.”

He pulled her on top of him and eased his way into her. She could feel him and the water rise up within her. He fondled her breasts as if he were touching her for the first time. He turned her mouth to his and she gave him all that she had. The incense was filled the room. She was dizzy from the lovemaking. He kept moving slowly in and out of her until they both came with pleasure. Then she fell into his arms. We need to do that more often she commented when they were finished.

“We will,” he replied. “After we get up stairs to our room I’m planning on doing it again.”

“You know what I mean,” she said. “We need to start taking more time for ourselves. It seems as though we never get a break.”

“You are definitely right about that. I figure once we get this Hotel up and running the way we want it there will be more time for you and me. I promise. No more hotels for a while. 5 is plenty enough for

now. Until we decide we want something else. We said we were going to start a family after this didn’t we. You haven’t backed out on me have you?”

“No as soon as this hotel is up and running. Then I am ready. I would love to have some children to fill this place. A dog maybe even a cat.”

“I’m glad because I know I’m ready. Somehow it just feels right here. I felt it the moment we walked through the door.”

“Me too. “ Camille replied. “Me, too. She leaned her head against his chest there was no place she’d rather be than right here and right now.
