The Move. Chapter 1
Have you ever felt like you were in the right place, at the right time, and the world seemed right just because you were there? That’s the way I feel every morning when I wake up wrapped in my husband’s arms, his heart beating against my back, and the warmth of his breath on my neck. I really don’t want to move but I know I have to. She moved and he murmured. She gently rolled over and kissed his lips. He looked at her with those sleep eyes and that crooked smile and her heart just sank. God she loved him. She never knew you could love someone so much that you could just lose yourself in their eyes.
“Come on,” she said to him, “Our plane will be leaving in 3 hours and since you have to be there an hour and ½ before takeoff we need to get up and jump in the shower.”
“Okay. You go get the water started and I’ll join you in there in a minute.” He kissed her forehead. He rolled over and tumbled out of bed. Moved to the side table took out a cigarette and took a long drag before passing it to her. He reached over and pulled her onto his lap. Her tiny body gave way to his strength. For a 100 lb female she could hold her own no doubt. There was just something about him that made her body give way every time. He ran his fingers through her long curly black hair. The shape of her drove him wild and her bright cat green eyes bore into his soul. “Oh come on Camille don’t we just have a little bit of time?”
“No Corey, afraid not this morning.” She gave him one more kiss on the lips handed him back the cigarette and got up to go start the shower.
She could feel her stomach churning. She wasn’t nervous they’d be right there together but this time when they leave to open their next hotel in the Louisiana Bayou they would be putting down roots. They found an awesome piece of property on the top of a hill. 100 acres tucked away from everything and everyone. It had a mansion with 22, rooms a gigantic ballroom, a huge sun room with all glass windows and an 8 person hot tub in the middle. There is just too many luxuries to even mention. She tilted her head back and let the water run down her face and then she heard the shower door open and his arms encircled her. She laid her head on his chest the water engulfing them both. Her mind could picture every inch of his body and every curve. His long black hair that fell down his back just the thought of him made her hot. “Are you ready for this?” he asked her quietly.
“As long as you’re by my side I am ready for anything. We are doing the right thing,” she said looking up at him.
“I know we are I just want to make sure you’re not having second thoughts about the whole thing.”
“I am not. Are you?”
“No of course not. As long as we’re together there is nothing the two of us can’t handle. Besides I think we are going to love it up there. We won’t have a whole lot of time when we first get there to enjoy it. I’m hoping to get our Hotel up and going and staffed as soon as possible so that we can enjoy some well needed time together.”
“Hopefully it goes smoother than the one in Dallas. I still get phone calls over the smallest thing. I thought that’s why we hired and trained them. So that all we had to deal with was the big stuff. It’s not like we don’t have 4 other ones to worry about.”
“I know that’s right,” he replied running the wash rag down her back for her.
After they finished rinsing off she bent down and turned off the water. She stepped out of the tub and onto the towel laid out on the floor. You know she hadn’t thought much about it but she couldn’t remember the last time they showered separately. They were always on the run going from one place to another. When they met their Senior year of High School they had one whirlwind relationship and married within a year. Corey’s mom and dad died in a car accident when he was just 14. So when we got married mom and dad gave us one of their hotels. Don’t get me wrong we were thankful but then we decided to become hardcore entrepreneurs and open up a hotel chain in 4 now 5 different states. It is always way past dark when we’re pulling in the drive and way before the sun comes up when we’re pulling out. I swear sometimes I don’t know if I’m coming or going. We’ve just gotten so used to it, she thought, it’s like a normal thing for us. That’s why she couldn’t wait to move into their own house that they have bought for them. Hire some extra hands at the hotels so that they didn’t have to be everywhere at one time. They both need some well-deserved us time. She pulled a sweater over her head and pulled up her jeans. He was almost dressed she could almost tell you the time before she looked at the clock she had been doing this for so long.
“We got to hurry Corey. You know how that stupid airport here is.”
“I know I’m almost ready Camille.”
“Okay,” she said walking out of the room to get a can of pop and light another cigarette before they left.
He was standing in the doorway just looking at her. That Long Brown streaked hair falling down to her tiny waist. She was a 5’0 little feisty thing. He loved her so much just looking at her made his heart skip a beat. It’s the times like these that he lives for. As he was pouring him a coffee she glanced over at him 6’0 tall long black hair falling down his back. His dark skin glistening in the sun coming through the window.
She crossed the floor and reached him planting one on him. Their lips locked and their tongues met. It was just as if it was their first kiss all over again.
“Wow, what did I do to deserve that? Tell me quick so I can do it again.”
She could feel the heat in her cheeks. Damn after 5 years he could still make her blush red.
Well the airport was as always disorganized and crazy. They sent their luggage through and grabbed their carry-ons and headed for the door. She could remember when they first started doing this they were always in coach. Which it never bothered her but she was so grateful that they could now finally afford First Class. It was so much more comfortable than coach. Plus she didn’t want him to know but
she still got kind of nervous at take-off and landing. She was great full for the little bottles of whiskey that seemed to calm her nerves enough so that maybe he wouldn’t notice.
After a long plane ride they were finally in their rental headed up the hill to their Mansion, Cypress Hill, and their new home.
Once across the lawn he grabbed up the for sale sign out of the ground with ease and threw it in the trash. He picked her up off the ground and swung her around.
She smiled up at him with her arms around his neck and it caused him to smile and it always makes his heart melt.
“Do we have to go up to the hotel tonight or can it wait until tomorrow?”
“I think we got tonight. I called up to there a little while ago and Josh said he had it and would call if they ran into any problems tonight, but he didn’t foresee any at this point in the day.”
They walked off to their new home hand and hand and ready for anything the world had to bring.
Donna had come in and started their dinner. The house smelled of wonderful fresh baked bread and apple cobbler.
“Hey guys,” she called from the kitchen. “This place is big and scary when you’re here by yourself. I’m sure glad to see.”
“Hey, we feel the same way don’t think we don’t. Do you know what fast food tastes like after a week or two of eating it?” she laughed.
Donna knew she was appreciated she had worked for her parents for years before she left when Corey and Camille needed her as they started branching out and buying multiple hotels. Now she was proud of them they finally bought them a place of their own and everything that they had been working so hard to achieve is about to come to pass.
“Well you guys get out of my kitchen now and let me do my work and you go enjoy the rest of your day in your new home. I’ll come around and find you when lunch is ready.”
“We may go for a walk and check out some more of the property before lunch. I want to go see the horses maybe take a ride now that we’ve got such a pretty place to ride. All the trails and ponds. They are going to love their new home.”
“When are the mover’s supposed to show up with the stuff?” Donna asked before they had a chance to sneak off for the day.
“Day after tomorrow.” Camille replied. “Mom is going over tomorrow evening and the next morning while they are boxing everything up. Then they will deliver that evening.”
“Who’d you decide to go with? Did you use the one I recommended because they came highly recommended to me by someone who used them and said they just did an awesome job boxing up their house and getting it all moved.”
“We went with Tyler Pro Movers that is the one you recommended wasn’t it?”
“Yeah that was them. You shouldn’t have to worry about anything then. Carla said that nothing came back broken or missing that they knew of anyway. What I am trying to say is nothing worth any value was taken.”
“We have all of our valuables locked up at one of our hotels. We don’t keep that kind of stuff in our home that is just inviting trouble to walk through the door and try to take it.”
“You’re probably being smart there,” Donna replied. “Used to you could tell a man that would do you wrong just by the way they carried themselves but in today’s world you just can’t tell anymore. It’s made the place pretty scary at times.”
Corey grabbed Camille’s hand and pulled her towards the kitchen door. He knew if he didn’t get her out of there her and Donna could talk all day and would. “Come on,” he said. “Let’s go give our horses that ride you were just talking about. I’m ready to go exploring. See some of the acres anyway.”
“I know I can’t wait to see Beauty I feel like she has been corralled to long.”
“Beast too. You know they don’t give them the exercise that we do and we even pay them to do it. That’s one thing about here I want you and I to take care of the hiring ourselves. Not that Josh and Donna would intentionally hire bad help. It’s just we have a lot more experience at it. Staffing the hotels and all isn’t an easy task yet we seem to come together nicely and get it done. So far I don’t think we’ve hired any that were too bad. Or else they just haven’t shown their true color’s yet.” Corey said to her.
“We weed them out just like we do everywhere else. I met the two girls Donna hired. They’ll be moving on property in the maid’s quarters tonight after their shift ends. I told them that should be fine that I didn’t think you’d mind.”
“Mind? This is our place whatever you say goes. I think the two stable hands Josh hired are going to make it too. I talked to them a little last time we were up and they seemed to be liking it and exercising the horses on a schedule to get them used to being in their new home. They were telling me how horses are real leery of new places and new faces. So they are working with them on a daily basis to put the animals at ease.”
“I never thought of it that way I guess. Although I can see how that could be true because they can’t communicate by talking so I’m sure that is stressful to the animals when people don’t know or understand what they need.”
“Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson,” Bradley said. “Would you like us to tact them up for you?”
“Sure that would be great. It’s Corey and Camille Okay? No Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. You make us sound like we’re in our 30’s or something.”
“You got it whatever you want.”
Beast was a pure bread Black Stallion with racing in his bloodline. He was going to make a fine stud. In fact 2 different owners of mares are supposed to bring them in one the end of this week and one the next. He’ll make beautiful Colts or Phillies. She looked up at him. He truly was one magnificent looking horse. Breeding him will be easy.
Beauty was a pure bred Quarter Horse. She was a milk chocolate color with white boots, white down her neck, and a white stripe down her nose. She was friendly and well mannered, but don’t think that means she can’t run. She’s as fast as lightning if you let her have her way about it.
They mounted their horses and they were off. They started off slow at first and then brought them up to a trot and Corey was waiting for it. All of a sudden Camille took off galloping. She swung her head back and let her long hair fly and sparkle with the blonde streaks in the sun. She was so beautiful he thought to himself and she’s mine all mine. I am the luckiest man in the world. Beast and Beauty were keeping together in perfect strides. It was nothing for them to run in unison. Camille’s dad had bought them both when they were just a Colt and Philly. They had spent their whole life side by side. They were 3 now. They were an Anniversary Gift from Camille’s dad and mom one year. They just didn’t have a stable place to put them besides her parents place. They had been living apartment to apartment in different states just getting hotels, getting them ready, and opening them up. They had been seriously talking about starting a family. They had been married for 5 years now and they just knew in their heart it was time. They just let go and let the horses take the reins and take the two of them to wherever they desired.
Corey and Camille dismounted and led the horses to the creek for water. They tied their ropes around a tree where they could have some leeway to move around and get their water. Corey pulled her close to him kissing her so deeply she felt dizzy and tingly on the inside. He just had a way about him that kept her wanting him to take more of her. She could kiss him for hours. It was as if she were opening herself to him and saying take me. Take all of me. Holding on to one another they collapsed on the ground laughing.
She was lying flat on her back and he propped himself up on his side with his head resting on his hand that he had propped up on his elbow. He was looking down at her. His eyes fixated on hers. “I Love You.” He said.
“I Love you too,” she replied.
