Chapter 12: Breakfast on the Island “What time is it?” I ask Bernie, who is bare-chested and standing at the end of the sofa in a pair of summertime running shorts. Dapples of sunshine outline his furred chest and smooth shoulders. He looks better than attractive, if there is such a way to look. I try to pull my view away from his handsomeness, but just can’t commit myself to do so. “A little after ten o’clock in the morning. Rise and shine, sleepyhead.” He walks away from the sofa and ends up in the kitchen where he creates what smells like breakfast. From the kitchen, he yells, “How’d you sleep, Jay?” “Better than I thought. How about you?” “The bed is comfortable. The only thing I needed was a man at my side for cuddling.” Bernie does need some cuddling company. What man doesn’t? H
