Chapter 20: Twilight
Holly Kill Cottage awakens around six in the evening and everyone gathers in the kitchen. There’s a big debate what to have for dinner. Saul insists we have shrimp scampi, which he will get Tom to prepare for everyone. Gillian says, “I want to drink my dinner if you gentlemen don’t mind.” Bernie and I agree that dinner should be hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill with a side of roasted corn on the cob.
The final outcome is not as simple as it should be. Gillian grabs a bottle of blue gin from the cottage, a tall glass, and tonic water. She finds one of the Adirondack chairs on the back deck and has a one-woman party, happy as a clam. Tom makes shrimp scampi for Saul, burns it, and Saul gets pissed off, threatens to kill Tom, and spends two hours in their upstairs b
