Chapter 19: LikeJay
I do believe the summer heat comes over me and causes me to feel ill. This occurs almost immediately after Saul enters the cottage with his Rolling Rock and asks where Gillian is.
Bernie says, “You look pale, Jay. Are you feeling alright?”
I shake my head. “I feel sick all of the sudden.”
“You’re sweating. We should get you inside.”
I let him help me out of the Adirondack chair and lead me into Holly Kill Cottage. He escorts me to his room and tells me, “You should rest and get some color back in your face.”
“It could be heat exhaustion,” I say, but I’m not really sure. I sit on the edge of the bed with my feet planted on the bedroom’s floor.
“It could be anything. Let me get you a glass of water. We should probably rehydrate you.”
He fetches me a glass of iced
