Chapter 9- Baby

3055 Words
The sun rays slipping between the gap of the curtains roused me up from my deep slumber. It lit up the room, blinding my sight soon as I peeked at the window. “Damn…” I grunted, planting my face back on the pillow. After some time, I turned on my back and rubbed my eyes. My eyelids were still heavy, but I managed to open them to check my surroundings. ‘I am home.’ Well, my new temporary home. I stretched my aching limbs and muscles as I yawned like no tomorrow. Then, turning on my side, I saw Sophie sleeping and looking almost naked next to me. Her dress was almost down, showing her skin off. I checked myself under the blanket and saw that I was still wearing my clothes last night, “Great!” I puffed, palming my forehead. Yet, soon as my hand touched my head, I winced from a sudden sharp pain in my fingers. I looked at it and winced after seeing a gauze with a faint stain of blood wrapping around my fingers. “f**k…” I flinched again. Closing my eyes, I tried to recall what had happened last night. I could remember some parts of the event. I had my birthday party in the club. Layla and Cedrick surprised me. We danced and drank alcohol in the VIP room, then we went to the dance floor and danced for more and “s**t!” I blurted out. Something hit me. “Kyle!” I exclaimed again, looking at my sore fingers. The incident last night played like a movie in my head. I knew I was drunk, but I now could remember what happened to my injured hand. “Damn…” I muttered, cringing from my thoughts. Kyle treated my wounds, and he truly cared for me even though I was wasted after making a stupid decision about picking up glass shards on the floor. What embarrassed me more was the thought of us sharing kisses last night. Kyle and I made out on the couch inside the humongous office of the club. “Hold on a second….” I mumbled, realizing something. “Did he own the club?” I asked myself. “Yes, he did....” I was startled then I looked at the person who answered me. “You awake?” “No, I’m dead….” Sophie scoffed, then stretched her body and yawned like a baby. “Damn…” she palmed her head, “I’m so f*****g hungover…” she grumbled before covering her breasts that were freely popping out of her dress. “Damn these heavy boobies,” “Yeah, you’re almost naked,” I rolled my eyes, grabbed the pillow, and hugged it. I breathed deeply and closed my eyes once more. I was still sleepy. “It’s late,” “I know…” Sophie yawned on my face again, “Oopsie…sorry,” she cupped her mouth. I opened my eyes and scowled. “Yeah, smells like d*ck….” I kiddingly gagged, plugging my nose. “As if she knew how a d**k smells,” Sophie rolled her eyes before looking at me, arching her brow, “Wait!? Don’t tell me…Have you smelt one last night!? How did you know?” she teasingly asked me. “Shut up! I was just kidding! Does that mean you had a d*ck in your mouth last night?” Sophia cracked up. “I asked you first! Don’t shut me up!? Did you smell Kyle’s d*ck!?” “Sophia!” Sophie laughed and then got up to tickle me. “Tell me, Eli! Did you and Kyle have some smelling marathon last night?” “Sophia Kay! Stop!!” I giggled, trying to move away from her, “My hand! Common! I’m crippled,” I whined, showing her my now bleeding hand. Sophie stopped. Her eyes gaped wide seeing it. “Oh, f*ck! What happened?!” she asked, holding my arm while still straddling on top of me. “You freaking didn’t know because you were busy making out with some dude last night!” “Oh, s**t… Was I?” “Hell yeah!” “I don’t remember!” “Glad you didn’t,” I smirked, slightly slapping one of her boobies. “Get out of me, you big booby lady,” “Ouchie!” Sophie covered them again, “Why in the hell are my boobies showing off?!” she snorted, going back to the bed. “I don’t know…Maybe they’re suffocated,” I sneered, slowly getting up. My head was still throbbing in pain from my hungover. “Goddamit,” “I’m hungover….” Sophie complained. “So am I,” “What time is it?” I looked at my phone on the bedside table. “Damn… it’s nine in the morning!” I answered. “Well, we should call Layla and Cedrick for brunch to cure this freaking hangover,” Sophie groaned, getting up to strip all her clothes off. “I can’t find my phone, girl. Do the honor,” she added, walking inside the bathroom. “I need to freshen up,” “Fine,” I agreed, picking my phone up. I turned the screen on, and soon as it lit up, Kyle’s messages loudly chimed on my phone. “Dang, El! Is that your phone?!” “Yes!” I said, turning the volume down, “Who brought us home last night?!” I asked. It is still a mystery how Sophie and I got home last night. “I am not sure, but I guess it’s Sawyer and Trina. He didn’t drink much, you know….” Sophie answered. I simply nodded. Sawyer was our sober monitor last night. “Thank God,” I huffed. “Oh, I think Kyle carried you too!” Sophie added. “What!?” “I am not sure if I was dreaming or not, but I heard him say his name was Kyle!” Sophie answered loudly. Unfortunately, the shower was on, and the water made our conversation hard to hear. “Oh…like the same Kyle who owns the bar?” I asked her again, standing up to go closer to the bathroom door. I decided not to open Kyle’s messages and left my phone on the bed. “Well, I knew the club owner’s name was Kyle. I figured it out, and it makes sense now,” Sophie answered, turning the water off. “I had no idea,” I honestly mumbled. I wasn’t sure if it was purely coincidence since Kyle had no idea about me being here in the city. He told me that he would be in Philly for another week. “Likewise,” Sophie said, taking the bottle of shampoo, “Yeah, he owns a couple of bars and coffee shops here,” “That makes sense,” I mumbled. So that’s why Kyle had access to that big room that looked like an office. He indeed owned the bar. “What makes sense?” “Well, he brought me to the massive office last night to treat my hand,” I answered, looking at my red-stained gauze, “he did like an expert,” I added before briefly telling Sophie what happened to my hand. “He was the guy I was telling you about,” Sophie said, “He was staring at you the whole time. I didn’t realize it was him, though.” “Well, I didn’t see him until after the incident,” I shrugged my shoulders. “I’m just glad he was there to help treat my fingers,” I thankfully stated. “His mom is a doctor.” “Yeah, he mentioned,” “What else did he treat,” Sophie turned her back and winked at me. “Stop!” “Oh, Elisha…” Sophie went back to her shampooing business, “Tell me more.” I leaned my shoulder against the door’s frame. “Well, if we did more, you wouldn’t see me here this morning,” I stated as a matter of fact. If that kiss deepened and I wasn’t too drunk and sore, I’d probably went homerun with Kyle, given our situation. I could still feel how his hands gently caressed my body while we were kissing. “You kissed?!” Sophie looked at me once more. “What?!” “You just said you kissed!” Her eyes were gaping wide at me. “I didn’t!” “Yes, you did!” Sophie refuted, “You said kissing….” I snorted, “f**k-off!” giving her a side-eye, and was about to turn away when Sophie yelled. “Hey, Elisha! Don’t turn your back, girl! You know me!” Sophie warned. Inhaling a deep breath, I turned and faced her again. “Yes! We kissed! We freaking made out on the couch! But I was too exhausted to do more, plus the medicine for this hand knocked me out soon!” I came clean in one breath. I knew Sophie well enough. She wouldn’t stop bugging me until I conceded. “That’s my girl!” Sophie just laughed at me before going back to her business. “The hell?!” I crossed my arms over my chest. “Well, I’m happy you got your first real kiss,” Sophie answered, turning on the shower to rinse her hair. “He seems nice. I just remember now. He brought you here. I was wasted, but I remember he was here last night,” she added while washing her hair. “So?” “Well, he didn’t take advantage of you.” “You mean he didn’t bring me to his home?” Sophie looked at me and nodded. “Yes, girl. I mean, of course, Sawyer wouldn’t let him do it, but I guess he just wants you safe here,” she smiled. I shrugged my shoulders. “You are maybe right,” I agreed. Kyle didn’t take the opportunity. Though we got lost in the moment, he still chose to take me back to my place. I might not know how he ended up there at the club. All I cared about was I ended up safe and sound though hungover. I left the bathroom and gave Sophie her time. Then, I went back to bed and laid down my tired body. Taking my phone, I decided to recheck his messages. There were a lot of smileys and emoticons on the thread before his actual ones. ‘Hi, baby! Good morning!’ ‘Baby….’ The hell. He called me baby last night, too, and I still couldn’t wrap my head around it. ‘I know you are dealing with your hangover, but please let me know if you have read this message. I have something that will help you and your friends today,’ “Oh…” I mumbled. I pressed the smile emoji to low-key to tell him that I had received his messages. Seconds later, the three dots began to move again. He was typing his reply. ‘Got it! I’m at a meeting. But I shall call you soon, baby…xx.’ Breathing deeply, I closed my eyes once more. ‘Baby,’ That’s too cheeky and fast. Now that I am nineteen, that still leaves me a seven-year age gap with Kyle. He wasn’t that old enough to be called daddy, and I cringed at just the thought of it. “Damn, Elisha…” I muttered, thinking about the situation I had put myself in. Kyle’s charm was working, and I didn’t know what to do. The comfort and care he was showing were already working their way through my system. “What did Kyle say?” I opened my eyes and looked at Sophie. “Well, he said he knew a cure to our hangover,” I answered. “Oh, that’s interesting….” Sophie said, drying her hair with her towel, “Yeah,” "I love something greasy and salty..." "Me too..." I agreed, imagining myself getting pizza or tacos. I would love to have a cup of coffee too. “You better freshen up, girl.” “Sure! Oh, but I haven’t called Layla and Ced.” “That’s fine,” Sophie nodded. “I just saw my phone,” “Fine. I’ll go ahead,” I said, getting up and heading straight to the bathroom. While preparing for a bath, I wondered what Kyle was planning for us. It wasn't even a week since I met him, and he was already alluring his way, not just to me but to my friends. "Whatever, Skylar," I scoffed, unwrapping my wound's dressing. ~ “Oh, Lord…” Layla looked at me and shifted her eyes back at the table before us, “I know our hangover was bad, but I didn’t expect to see this table full of greasy and salty food!” she laughingly said. “I know, honey! I am not complaining, though,” Cedrick told Layla before winking at me. “Damn it, Elisha…I didn’t know you were dating Skylar Owens!” “I am not dating him!” I denied. “Yet,” Sophie butted in before getting a slice of pepperoni pizza on the table, “Tell him to come here soon,” she added, then munching it. I clicked my tongue and shook my head. The food on the table was from Kyle, and so was the place we were in. About an hour after seeing his message, Kyle’s driver went to the apartment and knocked on the door. The man told us that our hotel room was ready, just like that. I called Kyle and asked him about it. He confirmed that the driver was there to pick up Sophie, Layla, Cedrick, and me. I hesitated, but Sophie was already starving. Cedrick and Layla were already with us before the driver arrived. Sawyer was at work, and Trina was still asleep. We quickly packed our stuff, left with the guy, and drove to one of the city's most extensive and expensive hotels. He led us to the pent hotel room, and the rest was history. My friends and I were eating out by the pool, enjoying the sun and having the city's best view. “El! Get your share and eat!” Sophie nudged me. “I’m okay with the coffee right now,” I simply said, eyeing the table, then the massive pool before staring at the blue and white sky. “Okay,” Sophie puffed, standing up and removing her bathrobe, “Well, I’m glad Kyle mentioned bringing our swimwear,” she mumbled, adjusting her yellow and green two-piece bikini. Unlike her, I was wearing a new pair of one-piece blue swimsuits. “Likewise,” I smiled at Sophie. Kyle indeed reminded us not to forget it. “Are you sure? You didn’t want to join us?” Sophie asked, looking at me as she reached the couple at the pool's edge. “Nope, but go ahead. I’ll finish this coffee and join you,” I nodded, looking at my bandage. I couldn’t stay that long in the pool with it. “Sure,” Sophie said before diving into the pool. I silently watched my friends enjoying the water. I was contemplating my life after hearing the stories from Layla and Cedrick last night. Sophie wasn’t dreaming. It was indeed Kyle who brought me back to the apartment last night. Kyle told them that I passed out while he was treating my wound. It was a lie, of course. Although I received a silent glare from Sophie, I trusted my best friend that she believed in what I shared with her about what happened to Kyle and me last night. That info would remain between us. Layla and Cedrick were astonished to learn about my connection with Kyle and were curious about how I ended up getting along with him. I told them what happened after our graduation and said that maybe he was still sorry for what he did to my car and my still slightly bruised forehead. “A penny for your thoughts?” I heard a deep baritone voice ask me. I looked up and saw the person who had been in my mind since I woke up this morning. “K…Kyle…” I smiled, standing up. He wasn’t wearing any shirt but his swim board shorts, showing his smooth but pale hard chest and six-pack abs. He was taller than ever, and my neck bent up to meet his stares. “W..why are you here?” I dumbly asked. Kyle smiled at me and held my waist like his usual thing. My body didn’t protest and instinctively held him too. “I have an hour window until my next meeting,” he answered, “and I felt like taking a dip with my baby and her favorite people,” he smilingly answered before looking at my friends. “You guys curing your hangover?” “Yeah!” My traitor friends answered while their eyes were squinting at me. “Sweet. Can I borrow my baby for a moment?” Kyle then voiced out. The gasps and awe on my friends’ faces were unfathomable. I was as surprised as them. I didn't expect Kyle would do that. “Stop…” I whispered to Kyle. The warmth of my face crawled from the back of my head to my face. “Just kidding. She’s not my baby yet, but soon,” Kyle sneered, winking at me, “It’s okay… let’s have our lunch,” he calmly said, guiding me back to the table. I hesitated, but Kyle looked at me once more. “I’m sorry…” he whispered. “Kyle…” I looked up at him once more and saw how sincere he was. “I was just kidding. I came here to check on you and this…” he softly said, taking my injured hand, “Are you okay?” he gently rubbed it. I nodded. “Yes,” my lips twitched in a half-smile. “I’m happy to know, baby….” Kyle sweetly mumbled, “Shall we eat now?” “If that’s what you want,” I whispered, following him this time. xx sorry for the overlooked errors. xx
