Rumors

730 Words
Damien had heard the rumors swirling around about Nora, how she was supposedly manipulating him and even bullying others but he chose to ignore them, not until Flora herself brought it up. He couldn't believe it at first, not wanting to accept that the girl he had grown close to could be capable of such things. But the more he heard, the more confusion grew inside him. With a troubled expression, Damien made his way to Nora's room, determined to confront her and find out the truth once and for all. As he walked down the hallway, he accidentally overheard a conversation between two girls, whispering anxiously to each other. "I can't believe Nora fooled Damien like that. He's so sweet, and he doesn't deserve to be used," one girl murmured, her voice quivering. "I know, right? I've seen her manipulate people before. I never thought she'd pull something like this though," the other girl replied, a hint of fear in her tone. Damien's heart sank as doubts began to gnaw at him. Could there be any truth to these allegations? He tried to shake off his growing confusion and proceeded further down the hall. His steps were heavy, the weight of uncertainty weighing him down. Just as Damien reached Nora's door, he saw a group of girls huddled together nearby. They were casting nervous glances toward Nora's room, their whispers barely audible. Sensing his presence, the girls suddenly froze, their eyes widening with undeniable fear. Without a word, they scattered in different directions, avoiding even the slightest encounter with Nora. Damien's heart pounded in his chest as he watched the scene unfold. He couldn't ignore the undeniable fear those girls had displayed. It only fueled his confusion, leaving him torn between what he knew of Nora and the rumors that seemed to cling to her. Suddenly, Nora emerged from her room, a hopeful smile lighting up her face as she spotted Damien. Seeing him, she began to walk toward him, her eyes filled with warmth and eagerness. But before she could reach him, Damien silently turned away, taking hurried steps in the opposite direction. She felt her heart plummet for some reason. Confusion and hurt washed over her, leaving her feeling vulnerable and rejected. With every step Damien took, she felt hurt and vulnerable. Nora's heart shattered into pieces as she watched him walk away from her. She tried to call out to him, her voice breaking, but he didn't even glance back. With each step he took, it felt as though he was taking a piece of her with him. Desperate to understand what had just happened, Nora chased after Damien, her doubts and fears swirling in her mind. But in her haste, she accidentally bumped into Flora, who stood with a smirk on her face. "Is something wrong, Nora?" Flora asked in a sarcastic tone. "Feeling a bit confused why Damien just ignored you like that? Maybe it's because I told him all about the terrible things you've done." Nora's confusion deepened, her eyes searching Flora's face for any hint of sincerity. "Why are you doing this, Flora? What have I done to deserve your animosity?" she pleaded, her voice suddenly cracking. Flora's smirk widened, relishing in Nora's pain. "Oh, Nora, Damien is mine, and I will do whatever it takes to make him hate you and take him away from you. You're just not good enough for him." Nora's eyes welled up with tears, hurt mingling with anger. "You don't know anything about Damien and me," she whispered, her voice trembling. "And if he chooses to believe your lies, then maybe he isn't who I thought he was either." With that, Nora turned away from Flora, her heart heavy with a mix of pain and uncertainty. She couldn't help but wonder if the person she had finally fallen for truly believed Flora’s nonsense. Nora ran through the corridors of the orphanage, tears streaming down her face. Her heart felt heavy with a mix of sadness, frustration, and anger. She desperately needed to escape, to find solace in the sanctuary of the orphanage garden. As she burst through the heavy wooden doors of the building, Nora felt a mixture of relief and despair. She collapsed onto a weathered grass, continuing to sob uncontrollably. All she wanted was someone to understand her, to listen, and to believe her.
