▒ AUTHOR'S POV ▒
Amelia struggled with all her heart to reject Colton, but the battle proved too difficult for her to win.
She then made a slight adjustment to her plans: she would first focus on leaving the mountaintop and getting to the main ground. After that, she would reject Colton and find her way out of the Black Moon pack.
She faced the room's window, knowing deep down that escaping through it would be her best option.
She walked slowly toward the window, her heart heavy with sadness, her conscience uneasy about what she was about to do. As she got closer, she accidentally kicked an empty ceramic plant pot. It fell to the ground and shattered, the noise seeming especially loud in the calm night.
She felt a slight pain, as if she had injured herself, but she ignored the broken plant pot and the pain in her leg, continuing toward the window. Finally, she reached the window and looked down. She realized the room was very high up on the mountaintop.
Jumping down would not be easy, and she didn't want to stress her newly awakened inner wolf by using her wolf powers. However, it seemed her only option at the moment, as escaping through the door risked being caught by Colton.
She was getting more and more frustrated.
Looking around, she saw an old red rope that was coiled and kept in a spot near the wardrobe.
An idea struck her.
She turned away from the window and walked to the spot where the rope lay. Picking it up, she walked back to the window and stretched the rope tightly with both hands to test its strength. Since the rope didn't snap, she believed it was strong enough to support her weight.
She tied one end of the rope to a part of the window frame made of hard iron and threw the other end out the window to use for her escape. She looked down and saw the other end of the rope lying on the ground, indicating it was long enough.
Finally, it was time to leave. She climbed onto the window frame made of hard black rocks and held the rope tightly. She stretched it again to confirm its strength, and once more, it didn't break, reassuring her that it was strong enough.

All that was left now was for her to jump out of the window and use the rope to gently climb down to the ground. Her escape plan would then be halfway accomplished.
But she found it very difficult to take that step, as her heart was against leaving. Her heart wanted her to stay back and not to leave.
Yet, she couldn’t stay. She had to go. She had many plans to carry out. The safety of the world seemed to be in her hands. She needed to visit her mother’s kingdom and, after that, kill Anthony and his entire family. Any delay or mistake in this plan could have significant consequences, not just for her but for the whole world.
So, all this justified her leaving and rejecting Colton.
She adjusted her grip on the rope more tightly and looked around the room. This would surely be the last time she saw it and, sadly, the last time she might see her mate. Tears gathered in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. She felt as sad and pained as one who had lost their loved one to death.
Tears continued to well up and run down her cheeks unchecked. Her eyes turned red, and her heart broke into pieces like shattered glass. Her conscience still fought against her leaving and rejecting her mate.
But her father must have had a reason for telling her to visit Wyrmshold.
Who would choose to save the world over their own fated mate, a blessing from the moon goddess that so many single werewolves would do anything to find? Yet, she was going to leave and reject hers.
Amelia released a deep sigh of sorrow and blinked her tearful eyes, letting the tears flow out.
To her, she was never going to change her mind. She would never mate with Colton, no matter how hurt she felt now over her decision, and no matter how much her heart and conscience fought against her. But one thing was for sure: Anthony, the royal family, and the Crescent Moon pack would all pay with their lives for everything they had made her suffer and everything they had taken from her, including being the reason she was about to leave and reject her mate.
She looked down again, rolled the rope around her palm, and held it tightly so it wouldn’t slip from her hand when she climbed down.
She wiped the tears from her face, looked at the sky, and saw the full moon looking back at her. She prayed a silent prayer, begging the moon goddess to forgive her for what she was about to do. After praying, she opened her eyes and was about to jump out of the window when the door of the room banged open with force as Colton rushed in, holding a can in his hand.
He was sweating profusely, looking as if he had just emerged from an ocean, his clothes soaked with sweat. His breathing was heavy and loud.
He dropped the can on the floor, shocked not only that Amelia was awake but also that she seemed to be trying to escape, with the way she squatted on top of the window frame, gripping the rope tightly in her palm. He decided not to believe Amelia was trying to escape.
"You are already awake?" he asked, but Amelia remained in her position, staring at him as if seeing him for the first time or as if she had just seen an angel.
Normally, she would have continued her escape even though he had seen her. But she found herself unable to do that. She found it extremely hard to tear her eyes away from the man in front of her, Colton. To her, he looked more handsome than he had ever looked before.
Angel, her inner wolf, stirred from within. The scent of pineapple mixed with ginger intoxicated her. The scent was coming from him.
Angel seems to be realizing who Colton is for the first time, even though she, Amelia, had been with him before and already knew who he was to her.
"Mate," Angel said softly from within.
