R A I N
I was running out of the house when I heard the news that Jack, my best friend, was sent to the hospital because he got knocked out during sparring.
"Rain." I heard my sister, who peeked her head on the front door, called me so I stopped on my tracks and turned to look at her.
"What?" I said in a hurry.
"Mom said to also call dad." She said and I only nodded in response. I turned around just when I didn't notice someone bumped at me, making me took a step back and lost my balance. My ass landed on the ground making me hiss. I thought I heard my tail bone cracking.
It was Zach the Great who bumped me and I knew he meant to really throw me to the ground. I didn't even notice him coming.
I knew he loathed me because he had a severe brother complex. We were close friends with his twin brother, Jack, and he believed that I was the reason why Jack keeps his nose with his books. . . that I made him a nerd.
He's such a good twin brother, isn't he?
I glared at Zach who was still standing in front of me and wearing that annoyed look while looking down at me.
"What?" I crossed my eyebrows.
"Move. I can't pass if you're on the way." He said, squaring his shoulders and arms as I glanced at the huge space for him to turn and walk around, making me sneer.
He's such an asshole.
I stood, slapping the back of my pants with my hands to brush the dirt off and glared at him. We had a glaring contest and neither of us wanted to look away first until my eyes started to burn and water but at the same time I was admiring his turquoise blue eyes. He has beautiful eyes but it didn't reflect with his personality. So, there is no way that I am moving.
"No." I said but looked away first, blinking my eyes to get rid of the dryness. Zach narrowed his eyes and I was surprised when he pushed my chest making me step back.
I was about to punch him when I saw the expression on his face. Though anger was dominating, I could see a hint of sadness in his eyes so I stopped myself and watched him pass me by.
I just sighed and shook my head.

I knocked at the door of Jack's and Zach's room before I opened it. The twins shared a room and I could only count with one hand the number of times that I got inside their room because of Zach.
I welcomed myself inside and I was surprised that the room was a little crowded. Alpha Kurt was there, the man named Eziel from our allied pack who kept on coming there, Jack's grandfather and grandmothers, and of course, Jack who was sitting at the bed, his back on the headboard.
They all turned their heads and looked at me and I bowed mine to alpha Kurt. My eyes landed on Zach's empty bed and remembered his sad and lonely expression but I shook it away from my mind.
"Rain!" Jack exclaimed the moment he saw me and I smiled.
"Hey, Jack. How are you?" His cheeks were tinted with a light shade of pink.
"I'm okay. I just lost my consciousness." He said.
"That pup hit you too hard." Said Cathy, the previous female alpha or luna, who was sitting on Zach's bed, and Jack's other grandparents nodded.
"No. I'm just really weak." Jack said and I shook my head.
"No, you're not." I said. In fact, he was the bravest that I knew.
"Yeah, Rain's true." Eziel agreed. I just wondered why he was there.
Jack shifted uncomfortably on the bed and looked at alpha Kurt. "Where's daddy?" He asked.
"He went to talk to Zach." Alpha Kurt said and he nodded.
Will, Jack's grandfather, said something to alpha Kurt and I walked towards Jack. I sat at the edge of his bed and tapped his knee.
"Was it Jerico?" I said and he nodded. I was talking about the one who knocked him out.
"You know him. He doesn't show any mercy to his opponents." He said and I agreed. Jerico was the top student of our class when it came to sparring and hand-to-hand combats, and he had a pair of really heavy hands.
"You'll make it up next time." I placed my hand on his shoulder and he sneered.
"No thanks. There'll be no next time with him." He said scrunching his face and I chuckled.
"Then maybe I'll avenge you myself."
"Come on. I don't want to lose a friend."
I laughed and gently hit his cheek. It's not like I am going to die.
"You shouldn't hit a patient." He said.
"Patient my arse. You're already healed." I said and he chuckled.
We were chatting about random things until I noticed that we were the only ones left inside his room. We were laughing when we heard someone shouted alpha Kurt's name. I could feel all my hair standing up hearing alpha Colin's cry and my eyes met Jack's.
"Daddy!" Jack exclaimed.
We both ran outside and saw alpha Kurt running so fast to their room.
Something was wrong with alpha Colin because he was bleeding and was brought to the hospital.
Luke, the beta of our pack, sent me home by alpha Kurt's order even though I could do it myself. My house was just a few meters away.

Ten years later. . .
Z A C H
I groaned when I heard my alarm turned off. I searched for it with my hand without opening my eyes and pressed the dismiss button so many times but it kept on ringing. I realized that it was my phone. Someone was calling.
I scratched my head in annoyance as I reached my hand to my phone that was resting on top of the drawer beside the bed, pressing it to my ear.
I almost jumped out of the bed when I heard a loud bang from the other line and a scream "rise and shine birthday boy!"
"Fvck you!" I exclaimed to Gwen, a friend of mine, and ended the call. "Oh, God. She's crazy." I groaned as I let go of my phone and slumped myself back in the warm bed, pulling the blankets up and feeling my ears were still ringing.
I didn't want to go outside my room. I wanted to rest and I didn't want to meet anyone and act properly because grandma was going to throw a party this lunch, but I was really looking forward to that night because dad and daddy agreed to have our own party, and we were going to the pub and maybe get ourselves drunk even though human liquor can't make us drunk. I didn't know how it feels like to get wasted and I wanted to get wasted tonight.
Sleep never came no matter how I closed my eyes. I slid out of the bed just when I heard a knock from the door. I shuffled my feet on the floor as if it was the heaviest thing as I walked towards it and I opened it. I wrinkled my nose when I smelt daddy because his scent and dads were mixed as if dad was there beside him. He hadn't taken a bath after having s*x with dad all night long. I surpassed myself from telling daddy about it, and I could also smell something strange inside the house. It was a new scent, alluring and it was getting stronger.
"Happy birthday! You're friends are here." Daddy said.
" Thank you, Daddy. " I smiled and he reached his hand to ruffle my hair.
"Get down, they're waiting for you downstairs." He said and I nodded.
"Rain! You're back!" I heard Jack exclaimed and I frowned in annoyance.
I even forgot that that nerd still exists after I heard years ago that he lived outside the pack land and went to uni. I watched daddy walk back inside his room and I was about to go back too but I feel like I should check who was the one that smells like sweet vanilla and. . . a book? An old book that was stored in a box for a long time, that old and dust scent when you flips the pages so fast which I hated the most, but I found it very pleasant to my nose that time.
I found my feet walking on its own in a hurry to the staircase where I saw Jack and his friend hugging each other, and I almost puked when our eyes met and goosebumps were everywhere on my skin while my inner wolf was groaning inside my mind:
"Mate."
