Chapter 7: SOMEWHERE FAR

Z A C H "Are you okay?" Daddy asked catching all the attention of the pack members who were eating with us and they all looked at me. "Yes. I'm fine." I said and bowed my head back and continued chopping my dinner with the fork. I don't have the appetite and not to mention my wolf has been whining non-stop because our mate left us. Rain left us. . . and it kind of pissed me off but at the same time, I felt lonely. Dad didn't say yes when I asked him the other day to go to Rain's university and as the days passed by, I felt weaker inside but I didn't want to show it outside. I sighed and decided to maybe just go up to my room because I was only playing and wasting the food. I pulled the chair backward as I stood and I was taken aback when the world suddenly spun around making me lose my balance and my vision blurred until it shut down into full darkness, I was horrified with the darkness as if I was falling into a very shallow and dark abyss. I knew it was Jack who was so fast to catch me from completely falling to the floor. I heard chairs being dragged and my name being called worriedly. My system was in turmoil and I felt like my strength was sucked instantly and I was hyperventilating. It took me a minute to calm down and my vision came back. I didn't know what was already happening around me. I just saw daddy crying and hugging me, Jack was also beside me and the pack members who were there were looking with worried faces. "I'm fine." I managed to say but my mind was empty and daddy unwrapped his arms, touching my cheeks. "You're not fine. Your color just drained and you just collapsed!" He scanned me. "Can you stand?" He said and I nodded. Daddy and Jack assisted me from standing just when I saw dad and Isen, one of our doctors there in the pack and he has always been our doctor and Isen was also the beta's mate, walked inside the dining area. Dad told his people to resume what they were doing as we walked to the living room. Isen did his inspection, starting from my eyes with his small flashlight, mouth, hands and so on. I was only glancing at dad and daddy who was standing nervously and was waiting for Isen to talk. I could picture daddy biting his fingernails because of nervousness. I knew Isen wouldn't find anything. I only need to be with Rain. Isen stood just when grandma Cathy walked inside together with grandma Eve. "Zach!" Grandma Cathy exclaimed as she stormed inside the living room. "What happened?" Grandma Evelyn asked daddy. "Zach collapsed and Isen's trying to figure it out why." Daddy said. "I'm perfectly fine. I swear." I said and Isen cleared his throat catching all our attention. "A doctor isn't the one that Zach needed." Isen said and I agreed silently. They were looking at me and back at Isen with quizzical and worried looks. "What do you mean?" Daddy asked and wrapped his arm at dad's arm. Isen looked at me as if he knew what I was thinking. "He needs his mate." ** "You didn't tell us that you already found your mate." Dad said and I glanced at the porch where I could see Jack and his mate, Eziel. Eziel's been waiting for Jack for fourteen long years and I was amazed at how he was so devoted to Jack all those years. No wonder he has always been visiting the pack and somehow, I grew accustomed with his presence since we were still a pup. Our time slows down the moment we find our mate, so Eziel doesn't look like thirty-two at all. I sighed and looked at dad and daddy. "It's Rain, daddy knew and he's the reason why I wanted to go and enroll to a human school." I said and dad creased his forehead and glanced at his mate. Daddy just shrugged. "Don't tell me you wanted to chase your mate—" "Yes." I cut dad and he looked at me before he sighed. "Fine. I'll send you to whatever uni he's studying." Dad said and I was surprised and gave him a very huge smile. "Really?" I couldn't believe he just said yes and dad nodded. "But promise us that you'll be careful there." Daddy said and I nodded enthusiastically together with my wolf who was jumping in joy. I just couldn't wait to see him again. ** I parked at the campus' parking area and calmly went out even though my heart was beating fast. Dad arranged the papers needed for my transfer as fast as he could using his connections. I entered the building and I was told to go first to the faculty room. Everyone who was inside the faculty glanced at me when I entered the room. Some were still having their first cup of coffee of the day. "Zach Realm." The man who stood from a swivel chair said and I could smell that he was also a werewolf but not from our pack He was from Chris' pack, our only allied pack and the alpha was the cousin of Jack's mate. "I am." I answered and he turned around his desk. "Follow me." He said and I followed him outside the faculty. Vince Strout or he preferred to be called Mr. Strout since he was a professor in that uni, handed me the student's manual and talked about some things about the school that they didn't do or practice compared to the school we had in the pack while walking until we stopped and went inside a noisy classroom. All the students there stopped making noises and looked at us—well, more like they were all looking at me. I scanned the students but Rain wasn't there. I made sure to tell dad that we should be in the same class. "This is Zach Realm, your new classmate." Mr. Strout said and the room became noisy again. They were all murmuring about how is it possible to transfer schools halfway through the semester. It was possible, of course. If you have connections since I heard one of the big people who manage this school was a werewolf and dad happened to know him. I think they were friends. I also heard them murmuring about how good looking I am. That's nice, but I only set my eyes at Rain. "Where are you from?" A girl from the class asked. "Somewhere far." I said and they frowned. They don't have to know where I live. "Why did you switch schools?" I didn't answer because I was annoyed by their questions. Do they have to know? "Do you have a classmate named Rain here?" I asked instead and they nodded. "Are you friends?" Someone again asked and I just looked at him but didn't answer him. "Okay, you can take a seat on either of those vacant ones, Zach and I hope you students will welcome him nicely." Mr. Stout said. I walked and eyed the vacant seat which I bet was Rain's. Though it was faint, I could smell his addicting scent there. I took his seat and I could feel almost everyone's eyes on me. "That's Rain's seat." Said the seatmate who asked me if Rain and I were friends. "I know." I said. "I'm Isaac." The guy in front of me said making me looked at him. "And he's Luke." He pointed out the seatmate who just lifted one side of his lips. "Zach." I said. "So, how do you know Rain? We're good friends with him." Isaac said. "We know each other ever since we were small." I said and it was true but I—we used to bully him for no reason, at first, but I started to dislike him when he sucked all of Jack's attention. "Childhood friend?" Luke asked. "No. We just know each other's names." I said just when that strong scent of old book and vanilla hit me making me suck my breath. "Oh! He's here." Isaac murmured and I turned my head to the door. "Rain! You're late!" Luke said and our eyes met making my heart jump and I could feel my wolf wanting to take over and pounce Rain then and there. "You might be wondering who he is. He's Zach by the way, our new classmate." Isaac said and motioned his hand to me. I stood so fast making the chair produce a loud screeching sound as it slid backward catching all the attention but I gave Rain a warning look. His eyes were fvcking glowing and Rain kinda understood as he bowed his head down and turned around going outside the room. "Rain—" "I'll go talk to him." I cut Luke who narrowed his eyes at me and he was giving me that suspicious look. "How are we so sure that you don't mean any harm to Rain. He runs away the moment he saw you. Are you a stalker or a bully?" Luke said and I felt like punching him but I suppressed myself to. He was Rain's friend after all, Rain wouldn't like it if I start a fight with his friends. I wondered when did I concern myself with Rain's friends but I brushed that thought. "Because we felt the same thing." I said and went out after Rain. I searched his scent and saw him walking near the locker's area. I quicken my pace and widen my steps until he was an arms reach. I held his arm hearing him release a surprised gasp when our skin touched. It felt something, like a spark and it was nice. I dragged him to a nearby dark storage room, which was the closest room I saw. I pinned him to the wall so he couldn't escape and I could see the surprised look on his face. "This feels like a déjà vu." He muttered making me frown and I touched the bandage on his forehead. "What happened here?" I asked and he slapped my arm away. "Nothing." He said trying to sound calm but failed. His voice was shaking and his cheeks were tinted with pink. Why is he wearing a bandage as if he won't heal? I peeled the bandage from his forehead and he protested like a kid. "Why did you do tha—" He paused when he touched his forehead and was surprised when he found nothing. Was he supposed to find something? I fold the used bandage and slipped it in my back pocket. Keep safe. "Don't keep it!" Rain said blushing and I couldn't help but smile. He reached into my back pocket and I placed my hand on top of his hand that was on my ass and I felt him froze, his eyes also widen. I grinned and he tried to pull his hand but I even pressed and intertwined them. "Let go of my hand." He said and narrowed his eyes. "No." I said as I moved closer to him and I didn't know what got into me but I crossed the distance between us. I wanted to do it ever since that day I knew he was my mate no matter how my mind says no. I touched the back of his head and pulled his hips closer as I kissed him. I moved my lips, kissing and coaxing him until he kissed me back. His lips tasted sweet and it was intoxicating that I didn't want to stop kissing him. Rain's hand held my shoulders and pulled me closer as our kiss deepened, our tongues laced and I slide my hand inside his shirt, feeling him jolt a little. I lifted his shirt up and slid my lips down his jaw. I couldn't stop myself from tasting him. I could feel my pants tightening below, making me rub my hips to his and we both moaned, he was also hard. Hearing him moan turned me on even more and I smashed our lips again just when the door flew open making us both jump and turned to look at the door and saw Luke standing before the door frame. . . With his surprised look.
