The pain was all she felt at that moment. Dossam was thrown inside her small room where she spent most of her time and she wished to be anywhere but here. She was unsafe.
She was scared, scared to her wits. She thanked her stars and blessed the elderly couple who lived next door and when heard a commotion in their house ran to help up. That monster of a father had kicked her one last time before ordering his other daughters to throw her away.
They let her rot in her small room as she cried herself to sleep. Hoping for a miracle to woo all her worries away.

The next day was no better than the previous one. She had to get up at five and made breakfast for everyone with the bruised and battered body.
She didn't want to get another beating by her sick stepfather who couldn't see beyond his love for his own children, ruining her in the process.
She was running late for her first class and didn't want to miss it hence she gets a scolding from her professor.
Making a mad dash towards the awaiting car of her only true friend, she hid herself in her hoodie some more to get away from her friend's disappointing eyes. She hated to see her only friend disappointed in her.
Cameron knew she again was beaten up by her psychotic family and hated her friend more for not standing up for herself. She couldn't spoil their already rotten mood and chose to keep shut and focus on driving.
Ryan had his own car and Cammy had her own. They were a sweetheart and always had her back whenever she needed it. Cameron was helping her mom in her boutique as she was going to take over her business when she was eligible.
It was her last year in high school and she just wanted to get this done with.
All her life she cradled to her mom's wishes and her step sister's evilness but she knew she'd die if she kept on entertaining their brutality.
She hated herself the most. She hated herself for her being strong, for not standing up for herself, for not being able to win her mom's heart and she hated herself for not dying with her father.
She wanted to bury herself with her father and never to return to the cruel world but alas, life never goes as planned. It takes it's own twist and turns and exposes itself to the most cruelest of things.
She wanted to move away from her house but also knew she wasn't strong enough to face the real world. She was meek, weak, and scared. She didn't know how to fight the demons of her night.
She just prayed for better life without the thought of being beaten. Where she was safe and loved.
Love, she was deprived of her right to mother's love. She knew the meaning of love before her father was alive but the moment he was laid lower in the ground she learned something akin to cruelty. The World had been cruel to her just as the shadow of her father was swept away. She had been on her own since then. People would think she'd be strong by now but she knew she wasn't. She was lost now.
--
It was after the last lecture that she strode out of the class in a hurry to get home to avoid being yelled at unnecessarily.
"Doss!"
"Dossy."
"Dossam wait!" It was Cameron who was trying to match her steps and as she did, she stopped her in her tracks
"What is it, Cammy?" She asked irritated as she knew if she comes home with her she'd surely get a beating for staying out late, and her already bruised body could not afford that.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Even though Cameron knew the answer but she wanted to tell her friend something very important.
"Nothing. you tell." Dossam said and sighed before walking out with Cameron at a slow pace.
"So Ryan and I were having dinner last night when we saw an advertisement for a waitress job near your place..." She trailed off as Dossam gulped.
Cameron put her hand on cold ones and sighed as she squeezed her palm.
"Please Dee. I promise the pay is good and even the owner seemed so hot." She gushed and Dossam hit her playfully.
"You're committed, Cammy." She reminded and the former rolled her eyes.
"You're such a spoilsport." She made a face and Dossam laughed out loud that even her bruises ached but she had laughed after so long that even Cameron was surprised to see her laughing.
"Anyways, we talked to him and he asked us to send you before six so that if you get the job, you'll start from today itself." She clapped but stopped midway seeing her orbs swirling with uncertainty.
"Cammy I don't think I can do that..." She couldn't complete her sentence as Cameron held her face and made her to look at right in the eyes.
"Listen here and listen, good Darling. You are going to go to that restaurant owner tell him whatever he asks and when you get the job, the first thing you do is to pack your bags and move out of that shithole." Cameron was always the free spirit and spitfire. She never held back from badmouthing her stepfamily and hated them from the depths of her heart and Dossam knew it well.
She never spared a chance to spew curses at them and pray for them to rot in hell.
As Cameron knocked some sense into her dear friend she knew she needed to play her cards right.
"You can move in with us until you're stable enough to rent your own place. I'll be very happy if you come live with us Dee." She hugged her friend sideways and kissed her cheek.
"Now come on. I'll drop you off at your mental hospital." She snorted before bubbling over in laughter and Dossam just shook her head at her crazy friend.
