The Morning After
Dawn broke, but sleep hadn’t come for me.
I lay there, staring at the ceiling, the events of last night playing over and over in my head. I could hardly believe it; the triplet Alphas, my supposed mates, wanted to make things right. Kade had poured out his apologies, Ryder barely muttered his, and Axel… well, Axel didn’t apologize at all. His words still echoed in my mind: “You’re our mate, there’s no going back.”
But how was I supposed to face them again? Despite the bond tugging at my heart, despite the connection I could feel between us, I couldn’t do it. I didn’t want this. I wanted to reject them and be done with it. If they accepted my rejection, they’d stay out of my way, and I’d stay out of theirs. That was all I wanted. Peace. Silence.
