For Your Child

Brandon My eyes were on Rachel and Dennis. I had seen him leaving his quarters, and I was about to walk up to him when I noticed his suspicious movements. The way he turned his head and increased his pace as If he was about to do something else got me suspicious. I was glad that I came out for some air. My mouth slowly closed before I could call him. Quickly, I walked behind him and was surprised to see him enter the dungeon. I followed and saw him stop close to a particular dungeon. It was Rachel's! I was about to walk up to him and cuss him out when they started having an intense dialogue. Since I was curious, I stayed back and peeped, watching the two. "It's your fault this happened to me," Rachel whispered, and Dennis blinked his small eyes only once. "Explain to me so that I can understand. I'm perplexed," Dennis said with a strong tone. Rachel wiped her lips and stood up. She folded her fists around the dungeon iron gates and seethed. "It was you who hired the rogues that told those lies against me isn't it?" "I never knew that rogue would ever confess such. I simply wanted to dig deeper into the case and I caught the rogue who happened to confess that. Furthermore, whatever the rogue mentioned, he only told the truth, he didn't lie," Dennis said, trying to cover up his evil deeds. Rachel scoffed loudly. "A joke. What a joke!" "I shall leave now. Have a great rest," He said and walked away. I quickly shifted away so that I wouldn't see him and thankfully, I was able to get away from his sight. When he was gone, I also left and went straight to my chamber. However, every time I think about Rachel, it irks me. The thought of her makes me pissed. of him, simply loathed her the more. I got to my chamber and ordered to be alone. I dwelled in my thoughts, remembering what had just happened, and my spite and hatred continued to grow for Rachel to the extent that I was convinced nobody or nothing would be able to soothe it. Finally, I slept off, even without knowing. The moment I woke up the next day, I mind-linked Dennis, asking him to come to my chamber. Quickly, he arrived. The look on his face showed how worried he was, and when he noticed that I looked alright, he heaved in relief. "You called…" He said and sat down slowly. I sighed deeply before saying anything, "I saw you last night" "Alpha Brandon…" He whispered in shock. "You thought I wouldn't see you?" I scoffed, "Why would you go there? Why would you go to her? Why would you pity her? She killed my parents!" "I'm sorry," He quickly said, "I apologize. Do forgive me, but I thought she was going through a lot." "I don't care, and I expect you not to care either. She shall suffer for her deed and after three months, she'll be hanged to her death" I said, and strongly bit my lower lip. Dennis only nodded. Days passed by, and as I commanded, Rachel ate once a day, once a day, and she was ignored all the time. She was told she would get more food and less punishment if she confessed her deed, but she never said anything. I promised to keep her for a year if she confessed the whole truth, but she kept her lips shut. This act triggered my anger and from that moment, I avoided her. I told everyone not to say her name in front of me and if they eventually did, they would get hanged alongside her. Because I neglected Rachel as a prisoner. Dennis took the spot of keeping an eye on her. It didn't even take two months to pass by, and I couldn't help but snicker to show how happy I was after knowing that in only a month, Rachel's head would be in a rope, tied up with the strongest and biggest ropes. One usual hot day, while I was looking through books in my study room, Dennis ran inside, panting hard. "What is it?" I asked, quite flustered. "I'm sorry, but I have no choice. I have to say this" He said, trying to catch his breath. "What do you mean? What are you talking about? Speak up. I'm listening," I replied. "Promise me," He uttered and I sighed. "I promise," I replied and shrugged my broad shoulders. Dennis walked up to him and sat down just next to me. "I went to the prison as usual and checked on Rachel…" "I said nobody should say her name in front of me!" I yelled, cutting him off. "I'm sorry, but I have no choice," He said back. "I don't want to hear it. Leave!" I barked, pointing at the door. "She was very ill. I had to rush her to the infirmary," He whispered. "Another word from you and I shall have you killed. I won't even think of you being the Beta of this pack. Furthermore, for your information, I don't care if she dies or lives" I said with a serious tone. "The results later came out…" He said in a trailing whisper. "What results?" I asked, confused. "Rachel's result," He replied. That was when I had enough of him. I grabbed him by the collar and pulled him up, squeezing it roughly and almost choking him. "Be careful what you say… Just leave!" I warned. "She's pregnant," He suddenly said, and my heart jumped twice in a row. "Wha…at?" I stuttered. "Rachel is pregnant. I wonder who the father is," He said and I gulped hard. I took my hand off and scattered my hair. At that moment, I remembered the last night we spent together. The way we drank to stupor and how we later acted all affectionate to each other. I remembered it that day but decided to take it off my memory. I never knew that the consequences of my actions would come to me, and this left me confused. "What am I going to do?" I whispered to myself, biting my bottom lip. Before I could voice out my thoughts, Dennis spoke as if he could read my mind. "You have no choice… You have to take your mate back… for your child."
