Episode 16

Chhavi’s POV

    I made myself ready and came and stood in front of the books, but I did not understand what to take with me, everything was arranged by Survi there, but here nobody is there to help me. I was about to call Survi, when Payal came and handed me a small pouch and said, “everything is in it, and the king is waiting for me in the car.”

    I ran downstairs and Payal followed me running and said, “all the best for your exams queen,” and I smiled and ran out of the palace and saw King was busy on his mobile as usual. I went and sat beside him and he smiled looking at me and ignited the engine, but was still busy with his call.

    He dropped me at the college and said, “all the best,” and suddenly kissed my forehead and said, “don’t fail me,” and went away from there.

    I walked towards my exam hall and felt somebody was following me and turned towards my back and saw Payal was following me. I looked at her shocked and asked, “what are you doing here?”

    “The king has already taken the permission from the college management, I will be staying in your exam hall till you complete your exam,” she said walking behind me.

    I smiled and held her hand and asked, “why don’t you study along with me?” and she just smiled and we entered the exam hall and our invigilator looked at me like I am an alien and asked, “number?” and before I could open my hall ticket, Payal said the number and he looked at her like he would kill her and asked, “who are you?”

    I was about to say something, when I heard from behind, “she will be sitting near the entrance,” and went away from there and I went and took my seat and saw Payal was sitting on the chair and looking outside.

    I completed my both exams and came near Payal and hugged her tightly and said, “thank you, if you would not have come, I might have failed, I became so nervous after looking at the paper, but as soon as I saw you, my nervousness vanished,” and was about to kiss on her cheek, but she stopped me and said, “king is waiting near the gate,” and came and stood behind me. I am feeling bad, why do they have to be behind us?

    I reached the car and saw he was still busy on his mobile and he smiled looking at me, and I turned towards Payal and kissed her before she could protest and hugged her once again and said, “you are like my sister,” and sat in the car and I knew the king was looking at me and I am answerable to him.

    After some time he disconnected the call and asked, “how was the paper?” and I smiled and told him what questions I did attend, and how I became nervous during the exam.

    He smiled and asked, “when is the next exam?” and I smiled and replied, “after two days,” and sighed in relief as he didn’t ask anything about the kiss.

Vikram’s POV

    I have become so busy since morning that I was not able to put my mobile aside. I want to say all the best to Chhavi and drop her at her exam hall, but my calls became ever ending and the King Shekhar has arrived and I am trying hard to postpone the meeting, but they are adamant, King Suman died few years ago and this King is very adamant, he just follows the rules and it is going to be very difficult for me to put my point in front of me and I need support, but King Mahesh is out of country, the only person who can support me at this crucial stage.

    I was busy on a call with Nihal and was discussing something important when I saw Chhavi kissing Payal, she is just like my mother, she also doesn't care about anything, she only cares about the welfare of others, she doesn't see whether the person standing in front of her is rich or poor.

    We reached the palace and I went into my personal chamber and saw Nihal was waiting for me there.

    “King, we have a meeting tomorrow and Mr. Rajput wants to talk to you about something,” he said.

    Nihal, presently I have some other things to take care of, inform him that I will meet him before the meeting.

    “He has something urgent to discuss,” he said.

    “Privacy,” I said, getting irked by his behavior and he went away from there bowing his head.

    I don’t want to talk to anybody, I just want to prepare myself for the meeting, I just want to be clear about my points. I just want to save my Chhavi, but I am getting a doubt that Mr. Rajput is planning something against Chhavi, and I am hoping that he is not going to throw Chhavi in danger.

    I was in my own thoughts, suddenly my mobile started ringing and it was from King Shekhar’s palace, and I didn't have any other choice than answering the call.

    As soon as I lifted the call, they informed me that the meeting was at 8 in the morning and disconnected the call.

    I threw the mobile forcefully and I know it might have broken into pieces. I thought the meeting will be held till afternoon and till that time I will be able to contact King Mahesh, but they are intentionally closing all the doors for me, but I am also adamant, I will go to any extent to protect my Chhavi. I dialed one number and said, “I need to talk to King Mahesh and it is urgent,” and disconnected the call.

    I know she is the one who can reach him as she is their palace in charge and Nihal is her son and if not for me, she will do it for her son.

    I was waiting for his call, but it was already midnight and I was becoming nervous, so, I went to my chamber and saw Chhavi was waiting for me. As soon as I entered the chamber, she came and hugged me tightly and asked, “why didn’t you inform me that you also have an exam tomorrow?”

    I just smiled and kissed her hair and said, “It is a very important exam and I don’t want to fail in it.”

    “You are never going to fail in any exam, see you will pass tomorrow’s exam very easily, and we will go to dad’s house and celebrate,” she said.

    I am getting a feeling that Mr. Rajput is behind all this, but I don't want to break their relationship as well, so I kept mum and pecked her lips and walked towards the bed.

    It was a long night for me, I tried to close my eyes, but I didn’t get sleep, so, I moved Chhavi and slowly laid her on the bed and covered her with the duvet and walked towards my private chamber and opened the rules book and started to read it again and felt someone standing in front of me. I know it is Nihal.

    “King, Mr. Rajput is playing a game,” he said.

    I understand, he is trying to protect his daughter, but why is he spoiling his relationship with Chhavi?

    “I came to know he got a call from Sarah and she might have put all the blame on Chhavi as you expected,” said Nihal.

    Meeting is at 8 in the morning, and I was not able to get in contact with King Mahesh till now. Where is he? Why is he not picking the call?

“King, he went to meet his ex-wife’s father, I mean his first wife’s father, he was very ill and I came to know that he died in the afternoon and I think the king might be busy with funeral arrangements,” he said and I lost all hopes that he will support me.
