Once I was satisfied that little Alex was focused on his food, I went into the living room to meet Nick. He rose from the chair like he'd been waiting for me.
"So..." I began. "How's this supposed to work? Are we like... one big family now? I get to live here and play house with you or what?"
“I’ll show you to your room," he said, ignoring my mocking question and leading the way up the stairs.
