A week came by in a flash, and this time, Rose was sitting in court with Xander. He volunteered to take time off work to be in court.
I was nervous, as this court appearance would determine my daughter's future. What if Dominic somehow got Rose's custody? Amelia already assured me that there was no way he would be granted full custody. He is not married, and no sane judge would grant a man full custody except in extreme circumstances where the mother was mentally unstable or unfit to raise a child.
Dominic was not above trying to paint me as insane.
“You're overthinking, aren't you?“ Amelia said beside me, and I smiled guiltily.
“All rise.“ The sound of the judge's arrival jolted me out of my thoughts. I stood up with the rest.
