Chapter 28: Are you sure?

David had taken Zoe up to her room and treated her burn. She had a separate room from Akihiko, as it was Improper in Tony’s eyes. Zoe I did not mind too much, she respected the hosts roles and it actually gave her a bit of breathing room.

“I’m sorry” David said as he put a Dressing on the wound. His body was tense with anger, he couldn’t believe that what just happened!

“It is not your fault David in fact you did warn me about this!” Zoe said sadly 

“What is the next move? Are you Alright to travel to Japan?” Dave asked

“Japan? Why are earth would I go there?” Zoe said surprised getting off the bed she had been sat on and heading to the Closet.

“I thought....you know ....you And Akihiko..” Dave said carefully.

“That we would ride off into the sunset together? He’s lied to me on countless occasions and I’ve just found out he likes to rape and beat up women. I don’t think that is the basis for a fairytale ending do you?” Zoe said bringing out her Suitcase.

“I am not making excuses for him, but he didn’t have a normal upbringing and he is Genuinely  trying to change. I also know he loves you and more and importantly you love him” Dave said

“I never would’ve thought I would hear you defend him!” Zoe said as she stuffed things into her suitcase.

“What can I say? The arsehole has grown on me, and I see how happy you are with him!” Dave said

“Was!” Zoe said 

“Okay, was. But that brings me back to my original question, what is our next move?” Dave asked 

“Our next move?” Zoe said zipping her bag up.

“Oh you not getting off that easy, I’m coming with you! I also know that you are up to something so please don't waste time denying it!” Dave said

“China” Zoe said

“What?” Dave  said thinking he had misheard.

“I am going to China. I know Benny is there and I also know his primary severs are. If we can access and destroy them then...” Zoe said

“We could bring down the whole operation in one Fell swoop! How did you find this out?” Dave ask

“By getting Alice to map and pinpoint a familiar location in all his dealings. Out of all his dealings over the Internet the most familiar server point it pinged off was in China. Added to that I located his private jet flying into Beijing a week ago, I’d say it’s a fair bet that he is there. I’m going to go to China and catch that Son of a b***h and destroy the Blood Gods once and for all!” Zoe said with a voice filled with determination. She started to walk towards the door.

“I would not do that if I were you” Dave warned

“What? Don’t even think about talking me out of this Dave!” Zoe said

“Oh I’m not! But if you go out there you’re going to have to deal with a very senior syndicate chairman and at least two of the gang leaders. Trust me when I say that they are used to holding people against their will!” Dave said.

Zoe stopped and thought a minute. “I don’t understand,  I am just a civilian with no connections!”

“Wrong! You are involved with a syndicate chairman and have just been harmed in another syndicate’s chairman’s home. They will want you to stay until it is sorted” Dave said. It was a massive lie, but hopefully Zoe would swallow it. She did.

“So what do you suggest?” Zoe said 

“Go through the window and meet me out the front in 10 mins. I will get Alice to turn off the cameras and we have a 4 minute window to get off this property. From there, I know a friend who can take us to China” Dave said

“Sounds like a plan! But you don’t have a car!” Zoe said

“Leave that to me, Princess. You just have to make sure that this is absolutely what you want” Dave said

“Of course! See you outside in 10 mins” Zoe said with a smile.

 10 mins later, Zoe slid into a Land Rover and was surprised to see the Twins in the back. 

“What are you two doing here? Zoe said suprised as Dave Drove off.

“Well we caught this moron stealing Andrew’s car” Ethan said

“And basically blackmailed him to take us with him” Aiden said

“We can be an asset in China, it is our stomping ground” Ethan said

“To be fair they could be helpful. They lived there most of their lives and will be able to smooth things over with Grace and Xan” Dave said safely passing through the gates. 

“OK, fair enough” Zoe said with a shrug.

“Alannah says sorry by the way” Ethan said

“Alannah?” Zoe asked

“She is the one that got branded. She is unbelievably furious right now.... she can’t believe her Grandmother would do something like that!” Aiden said

“Yeap, I would not like to be Anastasia or Kurt right now” Dave said as he drove them all to the private airport.

Meanwhile, everyone was in Tony’s study listening to a very irate British Syndicate Queen on the Chairman’s line.

“Are you insane Grandma? How could you do that to an innocent girl? What did she ever do to you?”  Alannah shouted

“Please calm down Alannah, you are not helping..” Kurt began to say but was quickly Interrupted.

“Excuse me! I have just found out that I have a cousin, which should be joyful news! Instead I find out from Tweedledum and tweedle dee that my Grandmother  has branded the poor girl because she has poor judgement enough to be with a Akihiko! And you were there when all this happened! Now go get my cousin and bring her back to our territory so we can sort this out!” Alannah ordered.

“Bad judgment? I didn’t hear you complain!” Akihiko snapped folding his arms in defence

“Not helping!” Ena growled.

“Fire Sprite, that is not going to happen” Kurt said softly 

“And why not?” Alannah said glaring at her husband through the screen.

“Because I am her legal guardian and she will be going back to Japan” Ena said firmly

“And I am her Mother!” Erin snapped

“Maybe we should ask the poor mite what she actually wants? We are all talking about her like she is a child! She is a grown women!” Theo pointed out,

“Dad is right, she should choose” Alannah said

“Well not Tonight, she had quite an ordeal and needs space. Tomorrow we will sit down and discuss things” Tony said

“I will apologise to her and hopefully she will forgive me” Anastasia said making everyone turn and looked shocked. Anastasia did not apologise...ever!

“Stop looking so shocked! I am big enough to know when I screwed up!” Anastasia snapped and Dimitri put a comforting hand on hers.

“I am sure she will forgive you my dear. She seems pure of heart and very educated, much like our son” Dimitri said Comfortingly.

“Doubt that very much” Akihiko muttered in Japanese, making Ena glare Murderously at him like he was a misbehaving boy.

“There’s no point in trying to predict what she’s going to do tomorrow. We just have to be patient and see what happens. It is an awful lot for someone to take in, we need to remember that” Tony said and everyone round the table nodded. 

After the meeting had finished Akihiko raced to Zoe’s Door. He banged on it and repeatedly called her name to no Avail.

“Zoe, I know you are hurt right now and you have every right to be, but know how sorry I am. I beg to take the punishment for you and if you forgive me, I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you. You know my background and you know that I can withstand anything.  But the one thing I could not withstand, My little dragon is losing you. That  I simply cannot do. Therefore, I shall wait out here until we are ready to talk to me. I will take any punishment you see fit to give me, but I cannot ever have you leave me my love” Akihiko said in Japanese as he sat down with his back against the door.

Unbeknownst to him Zoe did not hear a single word, as she was taking off in a plane to China
