Chapter 8: Storm

Zoe was enjoying a soak In a volcanic thermal spa pool. The sound of the water and the feeling of the warn water on her skin felt amazing. It was almost made her forget how weird the staff were acting. Some looked at her with fear, others with respect. It is all a bit odd Zoe thought.

“This is amazing” Zoe said to herself with a sigh.

“I am glad you think so Little Dragon” Akihiko said as he walked in flanked by two young women employees. He held out his arms sidewards and the women took off his robe, revealing a body that was akin to a Greek statue in swimming shorts. 

Akihiko smiled as he saw her blush and look away. He showered and order the girls to leave and that no one was to disturb them. He stepped into the thermal pool, making waves.

“You are not coming?” She asked

“No rest for the wicked hey?” Zoe said and Akihiko chuckled. She walked into the treatment rooms and did not see Akihiko give a warning glare to the employees before he left. Neither did she hear him talk to the manager of the treatment area.

“I want her treated with the upmost respect. Understood?” Akihiko commanded

“Of course Emperor, please leave her with us” The Manager said with a bow and Akihiko nodded.

In the massage room, Zoe was laying on the table listening to relaxing music. The therapist came along and started to massage her back.

“Wow, you seem to know where all the tight spots are!” Zoe said appreciatively.

“Thank you. You do seem rather tense” the therapist said putting warm stones on Zoe’s back. 

“Maybe, but that feels so nice” Zoe said as another employee, who was a young women, came in.

“So is this her?” The young women said in Japanese said

“Who?” The therapist replied back in Japanese

“You should not say such things!” The therapist chided

“Rose, that is beyond rude and inappropriate! How dare you! You are lucky she can’t speak Japanese, the poor girl done nothing to deserve such words” The therapist snapped.

“I just saying what everyone is thinking. There is no chance she  is no more then another conquest of the Emperor’s. I don’t see why we should have to scrape and bow to a ugly gold digging w***e. He could at least find a pretty one.” Rose said.

“Go and don’t come back!” The therapist snapped again and Rose walked out the door.

“Is everything OK?” Zoe asked, holding back the tears.

“Of course, just an employee taking orders” The therapist lied

“Is it OK if I go back to my room? I am not feeling well” Zoe asked politely.

“Of course! Let me take these stones off and pat you dry. Then I will leave you to get dressed. The Therapist said as she patted Zoe’s back dry. 

As soon as the Therapist left, Zoe got up and dried her eyes. But put on her clothes and walked out of the treatment area. On the way back to the room, Zoe decided she needed some fresh air and went outside into the beautiful gardens. After wondering for a bit, trying to clear her mind of Rose’s words she came across the stables. 

Zoe had lessons right up until she was 18 and is a Competent rider.  She walked round the stables, the scents instantly bringing back happy memories. Zoe stopped to stroked a beautiful black mare.

“I am sorry I have no treats for such a beautiful mare” Zoe cooed.

“You have a good eye Miss, Cinders is a beautiful mare. Do you ride much?” A Stable hand said making her jump. “I am sorry, I did not mean to make you jump!”

“Do you want me to saddle her up for you? There are many lovely  rides along the coast along here” The stable hand said.

“You know what? That would be amazing! Do you have some boots and Helmet I could borrow?” Zoe said.

“Come right this way Miss” The Stable Hand said with a smile.

Half an hour later, Zoe was galloping along a beach feeling happy for the first time in a while. She needed time to think through Rose’s words. Was she just one in a long line of Akihiko’s whores? Is this what David talking about? 

The questions kept going through her mind as she rode Cinders up to a hill top over looking the coast.  She had been riding for about an hour, so decided to stop to take in a stunning view.

“What do you think Cinders, should I trust Akihiko?” Zoe asked and Cinders shook her head in reply. 

“Well that was very clear” Zoe said with a sigh. Suddenly, Zoe heard a rumble of thunder as dark clouds were approaching them. Cinders ears flattened her ears and pawed at the ground.

“Woah there! Come on let’s find some cover, there was a cave the bottom of the hill. We can wait it out there, as I don’t fancy been so high up in a storm” Zoe said as she motioned Cinders to go down the hill. 

The made it to the cave just in time. The lighting streaked across the sky and thunder boomed as Zoe dismounted. She held Cinders reigns and stroked her nose.

“Shhh I sure it will pass, but I don’t think we are going any where any time soon Cinders. But hey, I sure Akihiko won’t even notice!” Zoe said bitterly.

  Akihiko finished his work early and was walking to the treatment rooms. Been away from Zoe, even for an hour seemed like a life time and he could not wait to see her again. He had been ecstatic at the responsiveness of his touch this morning. That sort of chemistry could not be faked and how he did not take then and there he would never know.

Akihiko saw the  Massage Therapist coming out.

“How is Zoe? Is she nice and relaxed?” Akihiko said with a smile

“Emperor, Zoe left as she was feeling unwell and went back to her room” The Massage Therapist said with a bow.

“Unwell? She was fine this morning” Akihiko said eyes narrowing

“I am sorry Emperor” The Massage Therapist said

“Well, I will find her in her room then” Akihiko grumped as he walked back to their rooms. 

Akihiko arrived and banged on the door, calling Zoe’s name repeatedly. There was no answer! Akihiko went to his room and called the owner who came within 10 mins with a key card to access her room. Akihiko frantically searched her room and found it was completely empty.

“We will search the site straight away Emperor, she could not have gone far” The owner said looking nervous.

“You better pray she hasn’t! If a single strand of her hair has been harmed, I will take a pound of flesh from your back!” Akihiko shouted. 

The owner nodded and walked out quickly as Akihiko got his phone out to text Ena. 10 minutes later, the owner returned looking pale.

“My Emperor” The Owner said nervously 

“You have found her! Where is she?” Akihiko said getting up.

“My Emperor, we found out that she took a horse out of our stables and went for a ride. She has not returned as of yet” The Owner said not meeting Akihiko’s eyes. Just then the thunder boomed and lightning streaked across the sky.

“Is she alone?” Akihiko said his eyes cold 

“She said she was experienced rider....” The owner said quietly 

“So let me get this straight. She said she was unwell and no one escorted her back to he room, instead you let her ride a horse by herself. She has not returned and now the mother of all storms has hit. Is there anything I have missed?” Akihiko said in a dangerous tone.

“No Emperor” The Owner said now shaking in fear.

“I suggest you find her and pray that she is not hurt, because if she is I swear I will personally end your blood line!” Akihiko roared

“Yes Emperor” The owner said

“Send a car for Ena at once! Now get out and don’t return until you have some good news!” Akihiko roared again and the Owner walked quickly out of the room.

Akihiko went to the window and looked out at the fading light. The wind and rain lashed against the window.

“My little Dragon, you better be OK or I will kill you myself” Akihiko whispered.
