Asper Reign’s POV
I invited Zaire to have dinner with us since she is already here and only Azure joined us. The other members of the Asper Squad couldn’t stand being in the same room with the leader of the most fearsome group that came from the Avenir Kingdom.
And while eating, we continued the discussion that we had in the meeting room.
“You said earlier that word got spread about a woman who became the weakness of the leader of Rioghail,” I said. “Does it mean, there is a possibility that I might become a target again even though we are not together anymore?”
Tumango siya. “They are still investigating who spread those rumors.” She looked at Azure. “Is that the reason why he called you here? He knows about that rumor?”
Umiling si Azure. “This is the first time I heard about that,” he said. “He called me here to guard Asper because they suspect that she is doing something dangerous without their knowledge.”
“Even though she has all of your caporegime?”
Azure sighed. “She completely put them under her control, so they thought that sending an underboss would stop her from doing anything.”
Zaire chuckled. “Yet sending an underboss couldn’t stop her from what she is trying to do,” she said. “Because she clearly made you cooperate with her.”
Azure sighed. “She has someone behind that managed to learn every f*****g secret we have in our lives that even the closest people around us didn’t know.”
Zaire smirked. “I know.” She then turned to me. “How’s Miracle?”
Kumunot ang noo ko. “You know her?”
She nodded. “She is my student.”
Nanlaki ang mga mata ko.
“We met four or five years ago at Avenir,” sabi niya. “She enrolled at my school, and I saw her potential when it comes to information gathering so I taught her things I know.”
“Oh.” Tumangu-tango ako.
Marami pa talaga akong hindi nalalaman tungkol kay Miracle.
“She is fine,” sabi ko. “Medyo busy lang dahil sa nangyayari sa palasyo kaya hindi din kami masyadong nakakapag-usap lately.”
“Is she finally with Rajiv?” she asked.
Tumango ako. “They finally start choosing each other this time and fight together for themselves even though there are a lot of people on Miracle's side that don't approve of their relationship.”
“Well, I am happy for her.” I can see that she is sincere with his words and that made me also happy.
I am glad that Miracle has a lot of friends that wish for her happiness. Siya kasi itong tipo ng taong uunahin ang kapakanan ng pamilya niya kaysa sarili niyang kasiyahan.
But now, she can do both.
“Let’s go back to our topic earlier,” Zaire said. “You were doing something to lessen the enemy of Rioghail in this country, right?”
I nodded. “Iyon lang ang magagawa ko para tuluyan na kaming magkasama.”
“And you are using the caporegime that was assigned to guard you to do your bidding?” she asked again and I nodded. “While Azure is helping you with the strategy and protecting you.”
I nodded again.
“Well, I shouldn’t have to worry if that is the case,” she said. “Azure can really protect you while Jyn is busy with his own issue.” She looked at Azure again. “Did Jyn make his vow?”
Kumunot ang noo ko sa sinabi nito. I guess this topic is not related to me.
Azure nodded. “Rajiv announced to the whole of Rioghail that he made his vow.”
Zaire nodded. “Then, I guess Chess needs to get involved just a little bit.” She stood up and stretched her arms. “I will send someone to help you protect that lady. And I think, someone who will help you train her.” She looked at me. “I will not stop you from what you are trying to do. Just make sure not to get killed, okay?”
“Eh?”
She waved her hand and immediately ran outside my house and left.
And with just that, naiwan kaming dalawa ni Azure.
“What was that?”
Umiling siya. “Huwag mong intindihin ang isang iyon,” aniya. “Ugali na nilang mga miyembro ng chess na biglaan kung sumulpot at biglaan ding umaalis.”
“Eh?”
“They are all weird,” aniya. “Just like their parents. Well, that was according to my parents who know theirs. But they are all good. Kaya mabuti na din ang pagpunta niya dito. They are more capable of giving you the training that you need.”
I don’t know much about Chess. I also have little information about the Xermin. So I am not capable of judging their skills.
Pero kung malaking tulong ang maibibigay nila sa akin para sa mga plano ko ay hindi ako magdadalawang-isip na makipag-cooperate sa kanila.
“But what are we going to do now?” I asked. “Whether it is true or not, those rumors put me in more danger and I don’t want to take for granted the safety that I put in this farm.”
Hindi pa ganoon kalalim ang nalalaman ko tungkol sa mga mafia kaya aaminin kong kailangan ko ang opinyon ng isang underboss ng Rioghail.
At tulad nga ng sinabi ni Zaire, ang lalaking ito ang itinuturing na secret weapon ng grupo nila kaya siguradong malaki ang maitutulong niya upang masiguro ko ang kaligtasan ko, nasa tabi ko man siya o hindi.
“I need to talk to Jyn about this,” he said. “I don’t want to make a decision when it comes to your safety so just to be sure.”
Tinitigan ko siya at agad siyang bumuntong hininga.
“Don’t worry, I will only tell him that Zaire is here and the issue about the effect of that rumors about you,” paniniguro niya. “Ayoko nang dagdagan pa ang iniisip ni Jyn kaya wala akong planong sirain ang kasunduan natin.”
I sighed. “Okay. I will just trust you.” Marunong naman siguro siyang tumupad sa pinag-usapan namin at nag-risk na din naman ako.
Tumayo siya. “Then, aalis na ako ngayon para makabalik agad,” aniya. “Mas mabuti kung narito ako kapag nagsimula ang operasyon natin laban sa Cerreli Mafia.”
Tumango ako at ngumiti. “Okay. Ingat.”
Hinayaan ko na siyang umalis habang ako naman ay ipinagpatuloy na ang pagkain ko.
Wala akong ibang magagawa ngayon kung hindi ang maghintay sa kung ano ba ang magiging resulta ng pag-uusap nila.
Sana lang ay walang gawin si Jyn na ikakagulo ng mga plano ko. Nakahanda na ang lahat para sa una naming operasyon kaya sana ay pagtuunan na lang niya ang atensyon ang sarili niyang problema.
