Jyn’s POV
“She is indeed doing something there, Jyn,” naiiling na sabi ni Rajiv habang umiiling matapos makausap si Lair sa telepono. “And I think Asper also got a hold into Lair’s neck. He sounds weird saying that there is nothing to report but clearly, he wants to say something.”
I signaled Karyu to stop what he was doing and take out the guys that they were beating. Then I turned to Rajiv. “Prepare the car. Don’t inform anyone. We will sneak inside Asper’s farm.”
Nanlaki ang mga mata niya. “S-seryoso?”
I sighed. “I don’t know how Asper is doing it but everyone we sent there to protect her ended up covering for her,” I said. “So, I have to know what she is doing there.”
I already have these feelings that she is doing something dangerous there but I chose to trust her, just like how she is trusting me to finish the threat in her life.
But now that she got the hold of two of my underbosses, I should start to be worried.
With them by her side, doing everything she wants, she will surely do everything to eliminate everything that comes her way. Even if it is too dangerous for her.
“She is already making herself a target, Boss,” singit ni Karyu nang makabalik sa loob ng silid. “Not just because she is your weakness, but she is also showing to the underground world that she can be a threat to them.”
“And a lot of people wanted to take her out of the picture as soon as possible.” Schlain also went inside the room. “Bago pa man siya maging banta sa kanila.”
We have been investigating every member of my group for months but unfortunately, we still haven’t found a single lead that will point out who might be the traitors.
At habang abala kami sa pag-iimbestiga, nagagawa naman ng traydor na iyon na patuloy na ikalat ang mga impormasyong may kinalaman kay Asper.
Katulad na lang ng kinalalagyan niya ngayon. Maging ang impormasyon ng mga taong kasama niya doon at ang mga theories kung ano ang ginagawa niya doon.
Lumabas din ang impormasyon tungkol sa pagkakaroon niya ng kontak sa leader ng Chess kaya maging ang ilang kalaban ng grupong iyon na nakabasa sa bansang ito ay nagkaroon ng interes sa kanya. Hindi malabong iniisip din ng mga iyon na magagamit nila si Asper para makakuha ng impormasyon sa kahinaan ng Chess.
At ngayon nga ay napapabalita na din na bumubuo siya ng sarili niyang grupo para pasukin ang underground world. Kasama pa doon na sinusuportahan siya ng Rioghail dahil nga kasama niya sa farm ngayon ang dalawa sa underboss ng grupo ko.
Inis kong ginulo ang buhok ko. “I know I promised but Asper is doing something dangerous and I need to know it,” I said. “Lalo na ngayon na alam natin na gumagawa siya ng delikadong bagay sa farm niya na nagiging dahilan para lalo niyang makuha ang atensyon ng mga kalaban natin.”
I don’t need to know everything. But I, at least, have to know if she is really okay. Hindi ako patatahimikin ng pag-aalala ko hangga’t hindi kami nagkikita.
Lalo na’t hindi din naman naging maganda ang huling paghaharap namin.
Gusto kong kahit paano ay maayos ang relasyon namin habang abala pa kami sa sarili naming problema.
“Well, then I guess we don’t really have any choice but to go there.” We were about to leave the office when Miracle arrived and stopped us from leaving.
“Where are you going?” she asked.
“Asper,” Rajiv answered. “We have to check her out there. Hindi matatahimik itong si Jyn hangga’t hindi nakikita si Asper, eh.”
“Oh, well.” Isinukbit niya ang kamay sa braso ni Rajiv. “Then, I am going with you. Iyong van ko na lang ang gamitin natin.”
I frowned when I noticed the way she glanced around. As if she was looking for someone but she didn’t say anything until we arrived at her van.
“We are going to sneak inside Asper’s farm, right?” Miracle asked and I nodded.
“I just want to see her, nothing else,” I said. “Kaya mas mabuti na iyong walang makaalam na pupunta tayo doon.”
“Good.” Tumangu-tango siya. “Then, huwag ka na magsama ng security details. Nandito naman ang tatlong underbosses.” She looked at me intently and I was confused as to why she suggested that but I know that she has her reason.
I turned to my bodyguards and dismissed them all. I even told them not to follow us and just wait here since we were not going to stay there long.
After that, we went inside the van and Rajiv drove it away from my mansion.
I was about to ask when Miracle put her finger in her lips, signaling us not to say anything. Then, she pointed at our phone telling us to put it in the box that she was holding.
Nalilito man ay agad kong tinanguan sina Karyu at Schlain na naghihintay ng signal ko. Lahat ng cellphone namin ay inilagay doon at nang isara niya ito ay tsaka siya bumaling sa amin.
“That is a Faraday case that I just got last month. It blocks all radio and cell signals,” she said. “And I put your phone there because I think someone is listening through your phones even when they are off.”
I frowned. “What do you mean?”
“You all know that someone inside your group is leaking information about Asper, right?” she said. “Despite investigating everyone, you still haven’t found the traitors.”
I nodded.
“I was thinking that whoever is that traitor might put a bug around you or your phones to listen to everything you are doing,” aniya. “Kaya nagagawa nilang makaiwas sa imbestigasyon na ginagawa nyo.”
“Oh s**t!” mura ani Karyu. “Ibig sabihin nito ay parang nagsayang lang tayo ng oras, effort at resources sa pag-iimbestiga natin sa ilang libong miyembro ng Rioghail.”
“They must have been manipulating everything around us to look like everyone is clean,” Rajiv said. “That is why we can’t find any red flags on everyone.”
“Yeah.” I sighed. “Looks like it.”
We are part of an underground organization. A mafia. So we can expect that everyone had dirt in their profile. They might not be doing anything that can damage our group, but they still have their personal things to do and that is not something clean.
“Now that you mentioned that, everything about our people became clean six years ago,” Rajiv said. “Same time when Reina was abducted.” He glanced at me through the rearview mirror. “They already manipulated everyone’s information by the time they started targeting Reina and we never even noticed it.”
“This is not good, Jyn,” Miracle said. “It only means that the traitor in your group is closer to you than you can imagine.”
And that is seriously ruining everything we are working on right now. Damn it!
