"However, Dr. Balon, I don't have the authority to appoint candidates for those positions. Our director insists on personally conducting interviews to ensure we find the most qualified individuals. She have to visit the company for an interview in two days' time."
"Can't you contact her directly?"
"Alright, I will forward her resume to the administration department. They will be in touch with her."
"Thank you so much, Mr. Wang."
"This is simply the result of the excellent treatment you provided. Thank you once again."
"Take care. Goodbye."
Vedh Balon ended the call and let out a sigh of relief.
In the morning…
"I'm leaving, Mom."
"Wait, I'll bring your lunchbox."
"Mom, I'm running late."
"Just a moment, dear."
Vedh Balon arrived and surprised her, "What's happening? Why is aunt shouting?"
"What are you doing here?" Ashu asked him.
"She's packing my lunchbox, too."
"Huff..." Ashu Davies frowned and glanced at the kitchen.
"Mom, what's going on?" She shouted.
Her mother was so mischievous that she never cared about her.
Hina Davies hurried to the living room and smiled upon seeing Vedh Balon.
"Good morning, aunty." He greeted with his attractive smile.
"Vedh, this is your lunchbox. I've prepared your favorite dish."
"Mom, where's my lunchbox? I'm going to be late." Ashu Davies looked at her mother unhappily.
"Mom, you're truly unbelievable." She kissed her mother's cheek and grabbed the lunchbox.
"I'm getting late because of both of you,” she turned to leave.
"I'll drop you off," he quickly said.
He was here solely to give her a ride. Ashu Davies turned back and looked at him seriously.
"Oh, that's great. He'll drop you," Hina Davies happily commented. Vedh Balon looked at Ashu Davies, seeking confirmation.
"Okay, let's go."
Vedh Balon felt truly happy and delighted that she finally agreed to go with him.
In the car…
Vedh Balon didn't look at her while she nervously checked her documents and prepared for the interview.
"Why are you so nervous? Relax. You'll do well in the interview," he said after a while.
"I've never felt this nervous during interviews before, but today my heart is racing with tension. The company where I'm going for the interview is a multinational one. I'm really worried."
"You're qualified and outstanding. Don't worry. I'm certain you'll bring back good news."
Ashu Davies looked at him seriously.
"How can you be so sure?"
"Don't I know your capabilities?" He smiled slightly, looking straight ahead. Ashu Davies lowered her gaze and didn't respond. She was still nervous and lost in thought.
When the car stopped in front of the massive gates of the Wilson Group of Companies' headquarters, Vedh Balon turned his head and looked at the woman who was anxiously observing the entrance gate.
"Don't worry. Call me once you finish your interview sessions," he said softly and kindly. She turned her head and saw the man smiling warmly at her, as always, giving her courage. She awkwardly smiled and nodded slowly.
"Go ahead. You're running late."
"Oh... I'm late." She quickly got out of the car and rushed towards the entrance gate.
Vedh Balon let out a sigh of relief but felt anxious in his heart about her selection.
"Oh... I'm such a scatterbrain. What should I do? I'm late."
After registering at the reception, she hurried towards the elevator, murmuring to herself.
The finance department was located on the eighteenth floor, and she found herself alone in the elevator. She was so nervous that she didn't realize she had entered the private presidential elevator. Engrossed in checking her documents, she didn't notice the elevator chime. She hurriedly stepped out of the elevator and collided with something or someone, causing her documents to scatter on the floor.
"Oh no... I'm running late, and now I have to gather these up." She paid no mind to the fact that she was arranging the documents on the ninth floor right outside the elevator. She didn't care who she had collided with.
All she wanted was to reach the eighteenth floor as quickly as possible.
Lost in her nervousness, she failed to check the floor number on the screen. Unbeknownst to her, a pair of deep blue eyes observed her intently, filled with surprise.
After hastily collecting her documents, she turned directly and faced the man standing in front of her, blocking her path.
"Excuse me, could you please let me pass? Can you tell me where I should go for the first interview session?" She asked politely, even though he had obstructed her way and didn't offer any assistance in gathering her scattered documents, causing her delay.
"Hello, can you please respond?" She asked with a sense of urgency, and he could see the tension on her lovely, petite face. He blinked his blue eyes, and a small yet captivating smile appeared on his thin lips.
"This is the ninth floor. You need to proceed to the eighteenth floor," he replied in his deep and soft-spoken voice, displaying great manners.
"What? Oh no!!!" She quickly turned around and entered the elevator. He followed her, positioning himself behind her, and admired her long, silky hair in ponytail. His hands were in his pockets, and his tall, handsome figure exuded charm in his dark blue three-piece suit.
Ashu Davies carefully reviewed her documents, while his piercing blue eyes diligently read each one. When the elevator chimed again, she turned her head and checked the display. Finally, it showed the eighteenth floor. Stepping out of the elevator, she nervously surveyed her surroundings and spotted the reception counter, rushing over to it.
The receptionist directed Ashu Davies to the second division for her interview. As she entered the hall, her confidence wavered slightly. She realized she had missed her turn, with only the last three candidates remaining.
The executive instructed her to wait for her turn due to her late arrival. Steeling herself, she took a deep breath, determined to hold onto her courage.
Eventually, the three remaining candidates finished their interviews in just twenty minutes, and it was finally Ashu Davies' turn. Taking a deep breath, she walked towards the interview room.
Inside, five men in black suits sat around a large round table, engaged in a low conversation.
One man stood behind them, attending a phone call. He stood tall and exuded strength.
Ashu Davies swallowed her nerves, mustering a confident smile as she entered the room.
She displayed her sharp intellect and quick thinking. While the five men enjoyed questioning the intelligent and beautiful lady, the tall man was occupied on a call for ten minutes.
After ending the call, he turned around, walked towards the couch, and sat down, attentively observing her from behind. She remained focused and didn't even glance at him when he returned and moved in front of her.
After an hour, one of the men glanced at him with a slight smirk.
The interview lasted for an hour and a half, but she never wavered in her confidence as they bombarded her with questions.
Ashu Davies was eventually asked to leave, and her documents were returned to her. Exiting the cabin, she sighed with relief and finally smiled. She had given her best to demonstrate why their decision should favor her. She felt a sense of joy and pride, as this interview hadn't subjected her to any humiliation. They assessed her skills and abilities, not just her appearance.
The executives were completely astonished.
Among numerous candidates, she was the only one who spent over fifteen minutes in the interview, an achievement unmatched by anyone else. The lady must be truly brilliant.
What shocked them even more was that the director himself was present in the cabin, making it even more challenging to endure such a lengthy interview.
Ashu Davies felt happy and refreshed. However, she hadn't received any calls regarding the selection or the results.
Exiting the company, she gazed up at the bright sky, the sun shining upon her. She sighed and began walking towards the bus stand near the headquarters to make her way home. Suddenly, she remembered something and took out her mobile phone to call Vedh Balon.
"Did you finish your interview?" he asked in a soft and pleasant tone.
"Yes," she replied, her voice filled with restraint.
"What happened? Did you not pass?"
"I don't know. I spent one and a half hours with them and answered everything. They asked me to leave without giving any result or indication. I'm confused," she said sadly.
"Doctor, it's ready," a voice came from behind him.
"Are you busy?" She asked.
"I was preparing for a surgery. Don't worry and go home without any panic. I'll see you there in the evening."
"Okay. Good luck."
"Thank you," he warmly smiled and quickly ended the call.
Ashu Davies let out a deep sigh and stared at the dark screen of her mobile phone. Mixed feelings of happiness and sadness overwhelmed her. No, the interview wasn't difficult for her, but she couldn't understand why she felt disheartened.
After leaving the cabin, she had some confidence, but now her heart was racing as time passed.
The five staff members sitting in front of her during the interview never looked at her with judgmental eyes or asked anything displeasing. Everything seemed perfect and professional.
The company was a multinational one, and it was her first interview with such a company. She earnestly wished to be selected for the operational executive position in the finance department of the Wilson Group of Companies.
