Chapter 12
After clearing up a few last details, the sheriff lost no time in leaving; he had a long night ahead of him. As he was leaving, he ordered his offices to arrange for extra patrols around Lucy and Paul's house, as well as Megan's. Aiden had been correct in his assumptions about the young man being killed from behind and from a distance. That meant that the killer was either an expert marksman, or very lucky. The sheriff wasn't so sure he believed in luck.
Megan and Aiden walked out with the sheriff to his car, receiving last-minute instructions and cautions as the man left. While Megan watched the car pull out of the driveway she shuddered.
