***JASMINE'S POV***
I tried pulling away from his unexpected hug and I heard him whisper in my ear.
"I want to take you out to a good restaurant and have a meal."
"Okay.. okay." I quickly responded, wanting to get away from the awkward situation at the moment.
I got into his car and we drove off.
"I hope you're hungry?" he asked, opening the door to the restaurant. "I've heard great things about this place, and I thought it would be a good spot for us to catch up."
I felt uneasy and forced and I was eager to hear what my stepdad had to say, but I was also nervous about what he might tell me. I hadn't seen him in weeks, and so much had changed since then. I wasn't sure if I could trust him anymore.
