Chapter 3: Confession or Confusion?

1800 Words
Tracy’s POV My mind has been playing games with me. The kiss, is livid and my fingers often find their way to my lips; rubbing to remove the feeling off it. “Honey, is there something wrong?” I jerked and shook my head uncomfortably. My mom worriedly glanced my way before finally taking her seat in front of me on the dining table. “You sure? That’s the fifth time you’ve been touching your lips. They seemed swollen too.” She remarked making me choke on thin air. My ears turned red and she gasped dramatically, sitting upright in her chair looking excited. “Did you get a boyfriend and sneaked him into your room last night? Is that what’s keeping your mind busy?” She teased and I gaped at her with complete shock and embarrassment. “Mom, noooo! Stop it.” Even if I protest against it, I cannot help but recall that kiss. I can only remember it vaguely but the kiss is imprinted on my mind and heart. “Ah, that’s a shame.” She replied letting the matter go when my phone ringed. It was Ash so I replied instantly. “I’m outside.” His monotone voice made me smile and I regretted when my mom wiggled her eyebrows at me. “Come in then.” I answered and ended the call. “I always thought you guys would end up together since he is a great guy and a gorgeous one too.” She winked playfully at me; my face heated hearing her comments. Unfortunately, before I could have retorted the main door opened and closed, signaling Ash’s entry. My mom waved and so did I. They both did a fist bump while greeting and I smiled seeing my mom laugh along with him. She picked her bag and turned to me, “Don’t forget to lock the doors carefully. Okay? Take care and I love you.” She kissed my head and left. “You guys better finish the breakfast before going.” She shouted back and I clicked my tongue in annoyance. “So, she was at it again?” Ash asked making me shake my head in acknowledgement. “Tell me about it.” I mumbled and ignored at how close Ash was sitting next to me while we munched on our breakfast. However, I was amazed to see a faint smile lingering on his lips. I didn’t mention it until we were seated in his car. He was quiet like always. “Um, Tracy?” Ash was the first one to break the silence as he revved up the car’s engine. “Did something intense happen last night?” He asked and my head snapped in his direction, seeing a frown in between his shiny eyes. “Like what?” I asked with a racing heart. Somehow I was reminded of the kiss… Intense too… But there is no way he would know about it, right? “I don’t know.” He shrugged, sparing a glance my way. “My body feels soar and my voice was lost early in the morning. The more I tried to recall the more convinced I feel that something is missing. It seems important but I can’t recall any.” Ash was complaining with a strained voice and only did I realize what an undeserving friend I was. Now that he pointed it out, I too feel something similar. Despite that, I was uncertain how to answer to that and shrugged in the end. “Possibly, it’s just a feeling.” Mumbling, I glanced away hating to lie. In some way I felt burdened out of blue. As if something did happen and I was responsible for it. Ash was checking on me in between so I needed to pretend to be cool. Thankfully, we reached our college and Ash grabbed my bag for me. He wrapped an arm over my shoulders so I held his waist, comfortably. It was our usual. He is my best friend and my first crush since high school. I smiled feeling relaxed around him but it was short lived. Right as we entered the campus building, we were greeted by Kevin and the step siblings—Gilbert and Kavya. “Hey, couple.” Kevin teased with an edgy voice that made Ash tighten his hold on me. “You jealous?” He counter questioned to which Kevin pretended to be offended. “As if!” He rolled his eyes and I shifted weights on my feet uncomfortably. Truth being told, I felt that as well many a times that Kevin sort of liked me. However, I might be wrong considering how we keep fighting with each other. “Really?” Ash provoked, leaning closer to Kevin this time. “Of course!” Kevin replied without backing off. As for me, I was embarrassed by their bickering that was starting to grab others’ attention. “Great then.” Ash grinned challengingly and I gulped seeing a mischievous glint in his eyes. Kevin knew it too and watched Ash carefully. To everyone’s surprise, he came closer to me and kissed me gently on my cheek. What!!! *Gasps* My eyes closed as I stood there with a thudding heart and indescribable emotions running through my body. Ash whispered softly, “Have a good day.” His warm breath shook me but I felt something amiss. Ash hands travelled to my waist while I started to forget how to breathe. Suddenly, a ball appeared out of nowhere and hit us. Ouch! The main hallway where we stood has erupted in loud murmur; I was determined not to look when Ash threatened— “Who the f**k is this who hit us?” He bellowed, rubbing his arm alongside me. “Me!” said an unfamiliar male voice. Curiosity got the best of me and I opened my eyes discreetly to find a dashing guy standing with a cocky grin. Ash was frustrated and he started to approach them. Regardless, I couldn’t believe it. This charming guy with a genuine sparkling smile and shining blue eyes was weirdly familiar. Even he had his eyes fixed on me. “How dare you?” Ash asked to which he shrugged smugly, winking at my way. My jaw tightened and Ash turned around to see me and then back at this stupid guy. “I dared because I’m a teacher and PDA is not acceptable here.” The answer caused uproar among the crowd that still existed around us. “Teacher?” some of us asked unbelievably. “Yes! Hope to have some fun.” He childishly turned around and waved at few students before finally looking back at our way. Ash’s fingers were clenched into a fist and he raked his hands through his hair before turning back to me. He grabbed me by my wrist but stopped as soon as the crowd went noisy. Though, my back stiffened as soon as I recognized this oppressing atmosphere. Panicking, I turned around when my world shook beneath me. Another young man laden with handsomeness walked towards us wearing a sulking expression. The way he stared at me, then at Ash and back to me was enough for me to resign inwardly. He flicked his hair with a finger and our eyes met. Whatever second doubts I had were eliminated and my mouth fell open—no way! This… Those familiar gray eyes; where did I see him? “Come here.” The guy commanded and I glanced secretively at Ash hoping he could stop it. The air was oppressive yet I could breathe. No matter how much I try I just couldn’t remember the time I met this guy or their names. Taking the hint, Ash pushed me behind his back that took the other guy aback. “You wouldn’t want trouble on the first day.” The guy had a deep voice and sounded dangerous. I knew he meant business; a hunch I see. So, I grabbed Ash’s hand and tugged at it. Before anyone could open their mouths, the final bell rings. Relief washed over me and students fled to their respective classes, cursing under their breaths. Ash turned to me and cupped my cheek. “Don’t be afraid of anything and study well.” He patted my cheek and left while I stood there day dreaming. Ash was angry at this new guy. It was return all over his face. Nonetheless, I noticed it was just the two of us standing there. The guy was furious and glared daggers in my direction. I was glued to my spot as I found him nearing me with an incredible speed. “I apologize—” my words died in my mouth as he grabbed my jaw and lifted my head, forcing to look at him. My breath hitched, heart skipped a beat as I stared back at those familiar silver eyes. Those eyes—the sincerity in them; what exactly is this? To make the matter undeniably mysterious, he leaned and crashed his lips onto mine. A gasp left as I remembered that warm touch. My face heated with the sudden shame. My body knew exactly what to do and so, opened my mouth to access him entry. My hands were skillfully around his nape, as I pushed more into him. Mockingly, he was gone even before I could take a taste of him. I glared at him, panting heavily. I was confused regardless, I wanted more of him. The constant butterflies inside my stomach and lower region was not helping. The same guy smirked evilly while whispering to me teasingly, “Ever heard of punishment?” And saying that he was off, leaving me along while I stared at him blankly. I cannot believe something like that happened. My body was flushed red, especially my face and desire ran through my blood; needing him. It was shameful to act like that; needy while he ignored me carelessly. The best thing was to skip my classes and tend to my desires when another voice call me out of blue. “Don’t anger him any further by skipping the class.” I bit my lips listening to that familiar voice. “Cruel, isn’t he to make you attend the class with those greedy and needy expression. While you study, your classmates would stare at you and analyze the situation. Tsk! Really cruel.” He added and I lowered my head in shame. He was right after all. Nevertheless, deep down I knew not to offend him leaving no room for rejection. Thus, I nodded and followed to my room with a heavy heart; praying for strength to face him further. “Here goes nothing.”
