"Why don't you live here just like before? Until you finally become a teacher."
I crossed my fingers, and hoped that Callie would accept Dad's wonderful offer. She has no place to live in, no one to turn to. It would be a risk to her security. It's not safe for her to stay at some random stranger's house.
"I can't, Uncle Johnny..."
I heaved a sigh. Why do I feel so disappointed?
"You've done so much for me, Uncle Johnny, Aunt Cora. I couldn't thank you enough..."
