By late Thursday afternoon, Tony decided he’d done his best with the book and sent it off to his editor to see if she agreed. At loose ends until he heard from Kirk, he decided to do some serious grocery shopping. That way, there will be more than sandwich fixings if he’s hungry. It wasn’t that Tony didn’t keep food in the house, but more that he was into nuking dinners rather than doing actual cooking. As he left the apartment, he noticed the smell of paint. Going around the corner of the ‘U’ shaped hall, he saw the painters—A.K.A. Detective Sanders’ men—had started to work on his floor. He had to admit, the part they’d finished made the hallway lighter and more friendly looking. “Now if they’d do something about the carpeting,” he said under his breath as he returned to the elevator.
