Dinner At My House?

986 Words
Ronnie Cray had the day off since his office was going to be renovated. He clearly understood that Scarlet had a hard time taking her eyes off him just now at the office. He smiled. If there was one thing that Ronnie Cray saw as an advantage due to his mental illness, it was his heightened sense of intelligence. Not much could go unnoticed under Ronnie Cray and he was so reserved, one would think he was not aware of his immediate environment. Ronnie Cray, amidst the fact that he was ill upstairs, didn't have a problem with attracting women. In fact, he rejected them and due to that, those women wanted him more. Now, he was in the same space as Scarlet Juvy, his brother's ex-fiance, and she was falling for him. Ronnie smiled. He could only wait for the day to pass, and the following day he would see Scarlet again. The next day, Scarlet found herself waking up earlier than usual. She tried to ignore the fact that Ronnie Cray had stamped his face in her mind, but it became an issue when she found herself not being able to wait to get to work to see him again. While she was getting dressed to show up at the office, which was somewhere she never went two days in a row, she found herself taking extra care of her outlook. Her hair, her face, and what she wore. Scarlet put on a skirt that hugged her thighs jealously and her suit jacket propped her cleavage up. It was such a sight. Eli the chauffeur was also shocked when Scarlet called him to get ready to take her to the company. His employer never went to the company days in a row unless there was an emergency. What was the emergency this time? Eli wondered. Scarlet arrived at the company earlier than most of her staff and their faces expressed massive shock when they saw her. Whispers started to fly around the company. The more staff that resumed work that morning, the more the hushes spread. The company was as quiet as a graveyard. It was not until 9.AM that Ronnie Cray's scent filled the entire 12th floor of Juvy Group. His secretary, who was a new employee after Reggie's had been sacked, welcomed him and tried to take his briefcase from him. "Never mind Angel." Ronnie was a smooth talker. The lady's face flushed with embarrassment as she led the way to his office. "How do you like your coffee, Mr. Cray?" She asked. "Stiff," Ronnie replied. His voice was even huskier that morning. Scarlet adjusted nervously when she heard that Ronnie had arrived. Her office was just next door to his and to access her office, one had to pass through Ronnie's. Ronnie entered his office and perceived the familiar scent of his boss, Scarlet Juvy. He could not miss her scent after the previous day's encounter with her. Was she at the company? What for? Ronnie swiftly looked around his office and saw that the furniture and other items had been switched to unbreakable types, so he thought that Scarlet had come to see it for herself and was just waiting to give him a few more instructions before she leaves. But personally supervising the job done in his office was not something for her status and if she had any instructions for him she could call. Ronnie walked dominantly to Scarlet's office and knocked. Scarlet knew it was him and, of course, she heard him knock, but she wanted to assume as much dominance as possible so that she would make a different impression than the fact that Ronnie was alluring and she was interested in him. She ignored his knock and to her surprise, Ronnie opened the door without hearing her say come in. Scarlet raised her eyes in shock. "I can't remember inviting you into my office," she said to Ronnie with a rude tone. "I thought nobody was in here after knocking so loudly and there was no response. I came to switch off the lights." Ronnie ignored Scarlet's salty tone and glared at her with his intense blue eyes. Scarlet looked away. There was no way she was going to allow him to drown her in his eyes again. She was already drowning in his presence. There was silence between them for a notable amount of time before Scarlet spoke up professionally. "Your furniture has been changed as you requested." She spoke without looking at Ronnie. "I noticed. Thank you." Ronnie continued to stare at her. Scarlet eventually looked at him, trying to control herself from drowning under his gaze again. "Is there anything else? You should go to work, you have a lot to get used to." She spoke like Ronnie's boss. "I have been wondering since when you started showing up at the company to stay. I thought I'd have some privacy," Ronnie replied. "I beg your pardon?" Scarlet was confused. "How am I supposed to concentrate when I know the beautiful boss of mine is breathing down my neck?" Ronnie's voice sent shivers down Scarlet's spine. "Let's keep it professional. You only took the place of your brother as CEO, and nothing else, so don't get ahead of yourself," Scarlet said with a voice that failed her. Ronnie could hear how constricted and stressed she was as she spoke lies to him. He rested his eyes on her cleavage, so that she would be aware that he knew she was having a hot time being around him. "I see." Ronnie raised his eyes slowly to look at Scarlet. "I planned a little party for my latest achievement as your CEO. Do you mind getting invited by your employee for dinner...at my house?" Ronnie asked. The entire atmosphere became too thin for both of them as the tension grew while Ronnie anticipated Scarlet's reply.
