Shortly after leaving the mall, I couldn't help but smile as my heart jumped. I spotted Maximus. But, quickly my smile transformed distastefully into a scowl as, to no surprise of mine, he was standing at the edge of a side hall speaking with Brandy in hushed tones while her friends looked around wildly.
“I wonder what that's about?” Nora whispered to me as we passed. I briefly made eye contact with both Maximus and Brandy but kept moving. No doubt he was giving her hell for what she did in the mall. I forced back a sigh as I made a mental note to speak with him later. He did not need to fight my battles and Brandy was so much like Raven, I knew I could deal with it myself.
