“There’s a man in your back seat,” Daphne said in a tone of astonishment as she looked into Jocelyn’s truck. She didn’t dare approach. Almost as though she feared the man would suddenly stand and charge toward her like a crazed animal. “Yes,” Jocelyn murmured and ran a hand through her tangled hair. Her fingers trembled as the adrenaline finally left her, while anxiety and confusion took over. She still couldn’t believe she had brought Gabriel home. Sure, the man had asked her not to take him to the hospital. But he was unconscious, and she knew nothing about him. If she had any sense, she would have dumped his ass in an emergency room and then returned home without even giving it a second thought. But she hadn’t.
