Jocelyn had never shown an interest in studying medicine. And as she removed the last piece of material from Gabriel's body, she realized why the thought had never occurred to her. It had nothing to do with the lack of money for tuition. Damn. A gasp escaped her lips. Give her a car engine any day. This was worse than she had imagined. Her eyes shot up to his chest to make sure the man was still breathing and not already dead. The languid rise and fall of his chest, adorned with bruises and lacerations, reassured her that he was still among the living.
