Mia attempted to regulate her breath. This was the first time in a while that she had gotten this worked up. She just wanted to throw anything near her to the side of the room in a rage. However, Mia didn't give in to the temptation.
She took a deep breath, then forced a smile. It wasn't out of happiness of course. She was trying to reassure herself.
After gritting her teeth, Mia sighed.
She answered the message from Leon. This time, Mia just typed whatever came into her head without caring whether she sounded polite or not. Tomorrow, she was going to meet this prick.
Mia closed her eyes, dreaming about grinding Leon's bones in her sleep. Oh, so much she wished that the dream would become reality.
After one night passed. As the day of the meeting finally arrived, Mia departed to the meeting place. Aiden was still sleeping when she went out, but now she had Seina to take care of him.
Mia surveyed the surrounding. Oddly, the cafe in which she had once worked for opened for today. Does that man open the cafe just for the two of them to meet?
A lady in her mid-thirties sat behind the counter. She was the only person inside the cafe. As soon as Mia went in, she rushed over to greet her respectfully.
Mia didn't recognize her.
Mia had a blank look on her face. However, inwardly, she felt strange.
She couldn't help but glance at the sign plastered on the cafe's glass window, which stated that the cafe was closed. She hadn't noticed that sign earlier.
The interior of the cafe hadn't changed much since the last time she was here. The wooden seats and tables were comfortable, combined with some green plants in the pot placed on the window. Simple, but didn't lose the elegance.
Mia's hand tapped the table lazily as her hand supported her chin. She couldn't help from gritting her teeth silently as her gaze turned sharp of all sudden. She was irritated when she recalled the content of Leon's message.
She couldn't wait to hear the explanation from him.
"Miss, is there something that you need? You can order anything on the menu." The lady had an anxious look on her face as she hurriedly said to Mia.
Mia blinked, realizing that she had probably made this woman misunderstood. A moment later, Mia recovered her habitual face, which was without any hint of emotional fluctuations.
She nodded at the woman's words, suppressing the impulse to ask any questions. She wanted to know what happened to the former employees, but isn't that obvious already?
Mia resisted the urge to rub her temples. Instead, she picked the menu on the table. Nothing changed from the menu either.
Without delaying further, Mia pointed to the black coffee. However, a moment later, she changed her mind. Her finger moved to point at the coffee latte.
She wanted to be alone as long as possible without this woman watching her like a hawk. Black coffee was too simple to make.
After the woman left, only then did Mia felt a little relieved.
However, it seemed that she had jinxed herself. As soon as she heaved a faint sigh of relief, the creaking on the door; signaling that someone was entering, attracted her attention. It was akin to the call of the devil.
And the devil himself finally appeared in her sight in all his glory. He carried a somewhat wicked aura that exuded from his stature.
Mira closed her eyes, then opened them again. Alright, this isn't just her imagination.
Thus, she waited as he strode toward her in all his devilish charm.
"Have you waited long enough?" Leon asked in a light tone. He slid down to sit on a seat across Mia, smiling quietly.
"It's nothing, Sir." Mia gave a thin smile, nodded her head at him in acknowledgment.
"Oh?" Leon raised one of his eyebrows. His attention shifted to the direction where the woman from earlier had gone to make a coffee. He appeared unperturbed, while in his peripheral vision, he was stealthily appreciating Mia's today outfit and the usual mesmerizing countenance.
He cleared his throat. He looked away completely from Mia's figure.
A moment later, the woman who previously served Mia appeared. Leon's manly voice must have caught her attention. After all, today's guests were just the two of them.
"I want to order the same as her," Leon told her, then he waved his hand.
The woman appeared steadfast as she hurriedly disappeared from their gaze. Mia didn't know why, but now she had become somewhat unwilling to be left alone with Leon, faintly hoping the woman to come back.
At the same time, Mia knew that despite being uncertain on how to convey it in words for him, she should just try to talk it out with him at once and for all.
"Sir, you said in the text message that you would explain further." Mia didn't beat around the bush anymore. She faced Leon with a firm gaze.
"Hmm," Leon hummed slightly. Now, he had the chance to look straight at Mia. "I have stated that we should start living together as a married couple to build the chemistry. With this, wouldn't mother be more convinced?"
Mia's lips faintly twitched. Who would have thought that this crafty and incredibly cunning man would have such hidden helplessness once he talked about his mother?
Honestly, what's his real intention?
Mia pondered a bit. A moment later, she shook her head. "Pardon me, Sir, but I can't do that."
Inwardly, Mia let out a string of curses in her mind. A faint throb of a headache began to take root in her head.
"Why?" Leon asked her.
Mia was silent. How should she respond? This man was truly unreasonable. The answer was quite obvious.
She, as a single woman was unwilling to live under the same roof as a mature man. He wasn't her real husband.
"It's inappropriate," Mia said curtly, a flash of irritation accidentally appeared on her face before her expression returned to normal.
Leon had a strange look on his face. His hand reached out for his pocket, taking his phone out. He gestured with his hand. "Wait for a moment."
He went away to answer the call. However, Mia had accidentally caught a word uttered by the person on the other side from Leon's phone. It was faint and unclear. "Don't--"
The voice seemed to be of a woman's.
Mia put on an unperturbed look. At the same time, as Leon's conversation with the person on the other side went on, the woman appeared while bringing their order.
She briskly put on the two cups of coffee on the table. Before Mia could utter anything, the woman already whizzed away without looking back.
Mia blinked, then decided to think nothing of it. She glanced at Leon, who was still on his phone. Fiddling with the cup of coffee in her hand, Mia blew off the steams.
She took a sip, closing her eyes in slight exhaustion.
When she opened her eyes again, she was startled to find that Leon had walked back toward her. He was still on his phone, which made Mia able to hear the words uttered by the woman on the side.
"--not be for--"
Leon hung up. He lifted his head as he slid down onto the seat. His profound, enigmatic eyes gazed intently at Mia.
