I brushed my teeth four times and used the entirety of my last bottle of mouthwash and my mouth still didn’t feel clean. I could still taste it…it was salty and sour and terrible. I had wanted to spit it out, but Jerry insisted that “finishing” was a part of the deal. I swallowed it, right along with my pride and dignity. I couldn’t believe what I had just done. I threw everything I stood for right out of the window. I had crossed a line and although no one knew about it, I felt incredibly shameful. I didn’t even want to face the triplets.
