After meeting with Jerry, I went back home and waited anxiously for his text. He’d said he would send me an address and time if his friends agreed to the terms. There was nothing to ensure that he would hold up his end of the bargain, even after what I did. I just had to trust that scumbag and that was hard to do.
In the meantime, I decided to give Ms. Caulder a call to get my visitation schedule set up. I didn’t plan to need one. If everything went well tonight, I would get the triplets back soon. Hopefully, the 24 to 48-hour deal still applied. Still, I didn’t want to seem to Ms. Caulder as if I didn’t care, so I made the call.
“Hello, this is Laura Caulder,” she said at the other end of the line.
