Amethyst's POV "You look like you've lost weight. Are you eating properly?" Ady said. "You don't look like you're getting much sleep either. Are you having insomnia?" he continued. "How busy are you? Aren't you getting enough rest? I know that fashion week is just around the corner but you still need to take care of your health, Amethyst" he kept going. We're currently on our way to have lunch in a restaurant that Ady booked for us and he's been babbling on and on about how I look skinnier, how tired I look, how I should take care of myself this and that. He was that type of brother, yes. Any other day, I would feel insulted of someone else told me that but it was Ady after all. I knew he was just worried. And is just overreacting a little too much. That's Adrian for us.. Ady is 3 years older than I am. He's 28 and is a bachelor. He took over the family company at 22 years old, almost as soon as he graduated college. He manages the family company until now. Ady and Ara looked the most alike. While I on the other hand, was a total black sheep in the family. "Ady, I'm not sure if you're really just worried or you're insulting me right now" I joked. Ady sighed. "Of course I'm just worried about you. In fact, I'm worried about the two of you. You guys are literally almost 4612 kilometers away from me. What do you expect me to feel about that?" he said. I chuckled. "Relieved that you don't have 2 headaches" I kid and Ady frowned. "Since when did you think that you guys were only headaches to me?" he asked displeased. "I was kidding, Ady. Ara and I both know that you love us with all your heart" I said with a chuckle. "Well, not more than he loves his KAWS collection" Ara butt in with a giggle. "That's not true. I love you both more than my KAWS collection" Ady denied with a slight pout. "Oh really? Can you give me one then? I really like your 2005 The KAWS Album" I said with a grin. Ady looked at me with a mortified expression. I knew that it was his favorite and his most expensive piece in his collection. He got it about 3 years ago in an auction. He bragged me about it for like a whole month. "What? No, not that" he said in shock. Ara and I burst out laughing at his reaction. We were only teasing him but it was so much fun. "You guys are teaming up on me" Ady sulked and Ara and I chuckled. We reached the location of the restaurant that Ady booked and got out. I was the one driving because I refused to let Ady drive after his flight. We even argued about it on the airport. But of course, I won. I always do. The restaurant was in the rooftop so we took an elevator to get there. "Good day, sir and madams. Are you walking in or do you have a reservation?" the man asked us. "A reservation for 3. Adrian Bennet Wright" he said. The man nodded as he looked at his wrong. "This way please" the man said and led us to our seats. There was a beautiful view of city. It was a very refreshing sight. A waiter came to us and handed us some menus. We placed our order without a problem. "So, how long do you plan on staying here with Amy, Ara?" Ady asked. I glanced at Ara and I saw her fidgeting with her hands below the table. "I-I'm not sure but I really don't want to go back home right now" Ara said nervously. "Did mom and day say or do something to you that I don't know of?" Ady asked with his brows furrowed. Ara shook her head. "It's not that. I just...I just don't feel like going back home for now. I really like staying with Amy. I feel more happy and relaxed" she said and glanced at me. I gave Ara an encouraging smile. "But Amy works almost 24/7 so she's not at home. You don't have anyone to accompany you when she's not around. And considering how you suddenly fainted without much explanation, it's not a good idea for you to be alone. It fortunate that Amy's friend was there that time but what if it happens next time and she isn't?" Ady said. Amy clenched on her dress as she pursed her lips. "She won't be alone. I'm going to alternate on working in the office and working at home. Also, my bestfriend Celine is more than willing to accompany Ara when I'm not at home like what she's been doing since Ara came here" I told Ady. I reached out to hold Ara's hand and gently squeezed it. Ara smiled thankfully at me. "Are you sure?" Ady asked and I nodded. He sighed. "Fine. Do as you both please as long as nothing bad happens" he said and Ara and I smiled at each other. Our food came and we started eating. Ara excused herself and went to the bathroom. "What are your plans on Amara's engagement?" Ady suddenly asked. I looked at him confused. "Haven't I told you yet?" he asked. I shook my head with my eyebrows furrowed. Ady sighed. "Our parents already scheduled the engagement party a month from now. I'm going to tell Ara later when we get home bit I wanted to let you know first so you can back me up on telling her" he said. My eyes widened. "What?! An engagement party?! A month from now?!" I asked in shock. Ady nodded with a sigh. "Unfortunately, yes" he said. My jaw clenched as I gripped on the table cloth. "I tried everything to convince them to not continue this whole engagement but they wouldn't budge since it's been set for a long time now" he said in displeasure. I closed my eyes tightly as I gripped the table cloth. How can they just...ugh! "Amethyst" Ady called out as he reached out for my hand and held it with his. "Calm down. I'm just as against to this as you are" he said as we rubbed my hand witj his hand soothingly to calm me down. I took deep calming breaths. Then, Ara came back and I lightly pulled my hand back from Ady as I put on a composed expression. "What did I miss?" Ara asked with a smile. We gave her a small smile. "Nothing much" Ady said and Ara just shrugged. We finished up lunch and we made our way to my apartment. We all needed to talk privately. We had so many personal problems we needed to discuss. This talk will be a very stressful one and I'm so worried for Ara. I felt bad that she needed to go through this. And while she's carrying a whole living being while she's at it. I can only imagine the weight it has on her. After a while, we reached my apartment. All of us were quiet during the ride and the tension has build us between the 3 of us. We went inside my apartment and made our way to the living room. We awkwardly sat down across from each other and we sat there in silence for a moment. "Ara, we need to tell you something" Ady voiced out. I glanced at Ara in panic. "No!" I stopped Ady. Ady looked at me confused. I gulped. "Let Ara and I speak first" I said and Ara looked at me nervously. Ara took a deep breath as she gathered her strength to look at Ady. "Ady, I...I'm..." Ara started as she glanced at me. I gave her an encouraging smile. "I...I'm pregnant, Ady" Ara blurted out. Ady's eyes widened in shock as he looked at both of us. "What?! How?! Since when?!" he shouted as he stood up. Ara lowered her head while I stood up to calm Ady down. "Why are you telling me just now?!" he asked in frustration. "Calm down, Ady and lower your voice" I said as I approached Ady. But then, he took a step back as he looked at me in disbelief. "How long have you known?" he asked in an accusing tone. I sighed. "I only found out after our first calk when Ara came here to New York" I said. "How?" he asked. "I accidentally found out when I saw the positive pregnancy tests on Ara's luggage" I told him. Ady scoffed as he looked at Ara. "Is that why you suddenly went here in New York to Amethyst?" Ady said. Ara looked up and looked at Ady as she nodded. Ady clenched his jaw as he turned around to look away from Ara. Ady massage the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Who is it? Who's the father of the child?" Ady said as he turned around once more. Ara gulped as she glanced at me for help. "Ady, let's not talk about that for now. It's a very sensitive topic for Ara. She's not even supposed to get stressed" I said. Ady glared at me and then at Ara. "No. I need to know who the father is or so help me, I'll find out myself and kill that b*st*rd myself" Ady said angrily. My brows furrowed as Ara looked at me with her teary eyes. "Ara, go to your room" I instructed. Ady looked at me with a frown. "Ara, now" I said and Ara immediately stood up and rushed to her room. "Do you know?" Ady said as he looked at me with his brows furrowed. "I do but I'm not telling you either" I said calmly. Ady clenched his fists. "If you don't tell me, I'll found out for myself" he said as he grabbed his phone from his pocket. I grabbed Ady's phone to stop him as he gave me a warning look. "It was a result of a one night stand. Ara was drunk but she told me she wanted it too. She wasn't forced to do it. It just happened" I started. "If you make such a call and try to find THAT man, our parents might end up finding out and who knows what they will do to Amara if they found out about this" I told him. I saw his jaw clench. "Tell me, Ady. Will that call be worth it? Will knowing be worth it? If you're putting your precious sister's life on the the line" I said. Ady gulped as he let go of his phone and pulled his hand away from my grasp. He looked away from me. "And about the engagement party" I said and he looked at me. "We'll need to do something about it. Our parents still don't know about Ara's pregnancy and it's better if they don't find out soon. I have a very bad feeling about it" I told him. "You should know better than anyone how they are, Ady. They will manipulate Ara one way or another" I said. Ady bit his lower lip as he massaged the bridge of his nose. He sighed and nodded. "I'll think something" he said. There was a moment of silence between us. "I need some fresh air" he said and left. I heard the closing of the door and I plopped down to the couch. This is stressing me out. I massaged my temple. Why is this even happening? I sighed. I stood up and went to the kitchen as I looked at the time. I cut up some fruits and prepared a glass of water and Ara's vitamins. Then, I went to her room. I saw Ara covered by her blanket while she had a pillow pressed on both her ears. She also had her eyes closed tightly. I put down the tray on the bedside table and I lightly tapped her. Ara opened her eyes carefully and her eyes met with mine. She let go of the pillows as she faced me. "How did it go? What happened? Does Ady hate us now?" Ara asked as her eyes watered with tears. I gave Ara a small smile as I cupped her face. "We just had a little talk to calm him down. Ady went out to get some air and to let out some steam on him. And no, he doesn't hare us. I'm sure he was just extremely surprised and worried" I assured her as I caressed her face with my thumb. A tear fell from her eye and I wiped it. "I'm sorry" Ara said. I sighed. "Why do you keep saying that?" I said. "Because I'm such a burden" she said as she sobbed. "Don't say that, Amara. You're not a burden to us" I said as I pulled her to me and hugged her. Ara cried and sobbed in mh arms until she finally fell asleep. I stared at her sleeping form and sighed. This is going to be really tough. No doubt about that.
