Amethyst's POV Ara and I drove to the doctor's after we ate lunch. Today is her first official private check-up for her pregnancy. "How are you feeling?" I asked while we were on our way. Ara seemed fine at the restaurant but she seems nervous now. "Just a little nervous that's all" she said. I glanced at Ara and gave her an assuring smile. "You'll be just fine, Ara" I assured her. "I'll be there every step of the way" I said. Ara smiled and nodded. I smiled at her as she took deep calming breaths. After a while, we reached the clinic. Ara and I got off and made our way inside. "Good afternoon, ladies. How may I help you?" the attendant welcomed us. "An afternoon check-up appointment with Dr. Murray please" I said. The attendant nodded and grabbed the phone to her ear. She talked with someone on the other line then nodded. Then, she turned to us. "You may see Dr. Murray in her clinic now" the attendant said and pointed us to the clinic. "Thank you" I said. Ara and I made our way to Dr. Murray's clinic. We knocked first whenywe got to the door. "Please come in" the person inside replied. I opened the door and saw the female doctor inside. She stood up to greet us. "Good afternoon, ladies. I'm Dr. Vanessa Murray" she introduced herself and extended her hand to shake. We shook her hand and she motioned us to the seat. "I'm Amethyst Wright and this is my sister Amara" I introduced us. "Please call me Ara, Dr. Murray" Ara said softly. Dr. Murray smiled and nodded. "You don't have to worry too much. Celine has told me everything I need to know about the situation" she assured us. Ara glanced at me nervously and I gave her an assuring smile. Dr. Murray started with a little interview about Ara's medical history and information about her pregnancy. I listened attentively to their conversation. I also took notes in my head and prayed that I'll remember to write it down later on and not forget. I was the forgetful type. I try to be hands on in Ara's pregnancy so I wanted to know as much as I could for the situation. "Now that we're done with that, let's do an ultrasound, shall we?" Dr. Murray suggested. "Yes please" Ara said. Ara was assisted to lay down on a bed while Dr. Murray prepared her equipment. I stood beside Ara. "Amy" she called my name softly. "Yes? I'm here, Ara" I said. "Can you hold my hand please?" she said. I smiled and held her hand. "Don't worry, Ara. This won't hurt a bit" Dr. Murray assured her. Ara nodded nervously. I stayed by Ara's side as Dr. Murray started the ultrasound. I was focused on the monitor. For some reason, I felt nervous too. How is the baby doing? Is the baby okay? Is the baby healthy? Will Amara be okay? Wilk they be okay? There was a lot going on my mind. "Here's the little one" Dr. Murray said with a smile. "Look" Dr. Murray said as she pointed at the monitor. Then we saw Ara's little one. "Oh my" Ara said as she teared up. My eyes were fixed on the screen. It's still so tiny. "Ara is in her 9th week. So far so good" Dr. Murray said. Ara was already shedding tears as she stared at the monitor. "My sweet Klein" she muttered with a smile. We looked at her. "Klein?" I said. Ara looked at me and nodded. "It's a fetus name. It means little. I wanted to give my baby a fetus name and I thought Klein would make a cute name" she explained. I smiled. "Klein sounds perfect" I said. Ara smiled proudly. "That's a very good name, Ara. Congratulations" Dr. Murray said with a smile. "Thank you, Dr. Murray" Ara thanked. Dr. Murray gave her a smile. Dr. Murray finished up the check up and printed out Klein's ultrasound for us. "Thank you for today, Dr. Murray" I said. "Thank you, Dr. Murray" Ara said. Dr. Murray smiled and nodded. "You're welcome, ladies. I'll see you in your next appointment" Dr. Murray said. We said our goodbyes and left. Then, I looked at my watch to see the time. "It's still pretty early. Do you want to go somewhere?" I asked Ara. Ara shook her head. "Do you have anything planned?" she asked back. I thought about it. No. I don't have anything planned. "Hmmm" I kept thinking. "Should we go shopping? You'll pass your first trimester in less than a month so we should probably get you some maternity clothes?" I suggested. Ara pouted. "I was asking about something you wanted to do. Not something you want to do for me" she said. I chuckled. "I want to buy you clothes. That's what I want to do" I said. Ara kept pouting at me. "Fine. Let's just pretend that I want to go shopping. Let's just stick with that" I said. Ara chuckled and pouted as she linked her arm with mine. "Klein is going to be spoiled by you like how you spoil me. I'm sure of it" Ara stated. I laughed. "I don't think so. I like to imagine myself as the strict and boring aunt" I said with a shrug. Ara laughed. "You are not boring" she said. I playfully rolled my eyes. "Oh please. I know you're just saying that" I said. "I am not! I genuinely enjoy being around you. I think you're fun" she denied. I laughed. "Yes, I am. You don't need to lie to me, Amara. There's a reason why I don't interact much with other people all these years. I only ever interact with them when I need to" I stated. "But I swear you're not boring. You just like to stick with your routines and talk to the same people but that doesn't necessarily make you a boring person" she tried to convince me. I chuckled. "Save it, Ara" I said and we both laughed. I drove to the mall with Ara. This was the only thing I 'wanted' to do for our free time. Ara will need maternity clothing as she goes through with her pregnancy so I thought it would be a good idea. "Can I borrow your phone for a moment?" Ara asked while I was driving. I nodded. "Sure thing" I agreed without any questions and handed her my phone. "This is for inspiration" she said. Ara did something and I didn't bother look. I was busy driving. For some reason, I was being extra cautious after the check-up earlier. I think something triggered in me when I saw Klein for the first time. At the beginning, my main focus on protecting is actually just Ara. I was sure that I'd support her on what she wanted to do with the child no matter what she decided on. If she wanted to keep it or not. Now, I have two precious ones I need to protect. Ara. And Klein. I knew I'll protect them no matter what it takes. Then, we arrived in the mall after a few minutes of driving. I parked my car and we made our way inside the mall. "I'll only buy my maternity clothes if you agree to buy clothes for yourself as well" Ara said. I chuckled. "Are you making a deal with me?" I said. "Well, something like that" she said with a giggled. I laughed. "Fine. I'll buy clothes too. Happy?" I said. Ara nodded with a wide smile on her face. "Very" she said and linked her arms with mine as we walked. We got inside the the mall and headed straight to the clothing boutiques and shops. Ara and I searched through racks of clothing separately. I wasn't a fun of shopping but I am a fan of clothes so it's not that bad. I searched through some clothing racks while Ara searched on another. I picked out a few clothes that I thought would fit her and gave it to her to fit. Ara went inside the dressing room and I waited outside for her to show me the clothes on her. Ara first came out dusty pink ruffle peplum top paired with white maternity high waist belly jeans. "I like it. The top compliments your skin tone and this bottoms goes really well with the top" I commented. "Is it comfortable on you? Do you like it?" I asked. Ara nodded with a smile. "I really like the top because it's pink and this jeans are really comfortable" she said. I smiled and nodded. Ara went inside again to change. My phone beeped and I took it out of my pocket. Ara gave it back before we got inside the mall. There was a message from Celine. From: Babe ;) I'm coming back tomorrow from Paris. You girls want anything before I come home? Celine changed her contact name on my phone before she left for Paris. I don't know why but she did. "Ara, Celine is coming home tomorrow from Paris. She's asking if you want anything she can bring home?" I asked Ara from outside. "Macarons! Can you please tell Celine to get me some macarons please?" Ara replied. "Okay" I said. To: Babe ;) Ara said she wanted macarons. I replied. Celine replied almost immediately. From: Babe ;) And you? What do you want? I chuckled and typed in a reply. To: Babe ;) Nothing. I replied. Then, I was about to put my phone back on my pocket when something suddenly caught my eye. I flipped my phone and saw the Klein's ultrasound on the back of my phone. I smiled as I unconsciously touched it. Little one. An innocent little bean. Cute. Ara came out again. This time, she was wearing a white ditsy floral slip dress. "It's cute. It suits and I like the floral details" I said my opinion. Ara smiled excitedly. "Really? I think it's cute too. I like the flowers" she said. I nodded in agreement. Ara came inside tge dressing room again ti fit the other clothes. Ara continued to fit the other clothes as I gave my opinions on the clothing pieces. My sister seemed to be enjoying herself so I thought it was really good. "Ara, I'm going out to have a look at some more clothes" I said while I was outside. "Okay! I'll be out soon. Go on ahead" she said from inside. I went out of the fitting area and made my way to the clothing racks again. Then, the area for the clothes for newborns caught my eyes. I made my way there and started looking at some clothes. I thought they were really cute. Very tiny. I saw myself making some clothing pieces of my own for Klein. I felt a little excited. I'm not going to deny that. I wasn't the fondest of children before but since it's Ara's child we're talking about here, it's a different case. Then, my phone suddenly rang. It was Ady. I answered it immediately. "Hey" I greeted. "Hey. Are you busy?" "Nope. I'm in the mall right now. Why?" I asked curiously as I still went through the baby clothes. "Really? Are you with Ara?" "Yeah. We're shopping for maternity clothes" I told him. "I'll wire some money to you" "No thanks. I'm sure our parents will track that back to me. Nah-uh" I refused. Ady sighed from the other line. "I'll find a way to send money later without our parents knowing. Do not reject it, Amethyst" "Fine, Adrian. Anyway, what's up? Why did you call?" I asked. I was still looking through the baby clothes. "Nothing. I wanted to check up on both of you. Today is Ara's checkup right?" "Yeah. 9 weeks in. So far so good. Klein is fine" I updated him. "Klein? Who's Klein?" "The baby" I simply answered. "Oh it has a name already? Don't you guys have to wait to know if it's a boy or a girl?" "Fetus name, Adrian" I explained. "Oh okay. Got that" I chuckled. Then, I heard someone from the background. "I need to to go, Amy. I'll call again soon" "Okay. Take care" I said. "You guys should too. Bye" Then, the call ended. I turned to make my way back to Ara to show her the baby clothes but I suddenly bumped into someone and I dropped the clothes and my phone. "Oops! Sorry I didn't mean to---miss Wright?" the man said. I looked at the man with a raised brow. The assistant of Devon Shaw. What's his name again? He helped me picked up the things I dropped and saw him stare at my phone. The back of my phone to be exact. The one with the ultrasound. I immediately grabbed it. He cleared his throat as he looked at me. "Cody. Cody Lee. We've met before in the party and in your office" he reminded me. I slightly frowned. "Yes, I remember" I said. "Now, if you'll excuse me. I need to go, mr. Lee" I said and left. If that man is here, so will Devon Shaw. I'm not going to stay for that. Like I said, I simply cannot stand that man.
