Chapter Seven
The Last Station
They passed the two downed stations in the night, reaching the operative one just after sunrise.
“I have to evacuate the air before I can open the door,” Kiyoshi said after bringing the rover to a stop. “You’ll have to suit up.”
“I can come out and help with the maintenance,” Valentina said as she retied the T-shirt around her aching knee. Kiyoshi frowned but nodded and climbed into the back to take their suits out of the storage cabinet.
Valentina felt more rested than she had since leaving home, and this despite waking up several times during the night. Always Kiyoshi was awake beside her, watching the motion detector monitors, looking out the window.
