Chapter 3

Sadie Frasier grew up knowing one thing in her life to be certain, that she will become an actress. With her angelic facial features that she inherited from her gorgeous super model and actress mother, many people thought that she would become a superstar immediately. Her 5’9 height, long flowing silky brunette hair, 36-23-36 body statistics, heart shaped face, perfectly curved eyebrows, blue eyes, pointed nose with just the perfect bridge, red pouty lips and high cheekbones, makes her a perfect commercial endorser for both beauty brands and clothing line.             Sadie Frasier started doing commercials with her parents since she was an infant. She endorsed products from milk to cereals including diapers and infant wears.  Her baby pictures are printed in boxes of strollers and cribs of the products that she endorsed. She’s already financially rich in her own name as a child. This is apart from her family’s wealthy elite social standing. Being the daughter of the two famous actors of their generation, her mother Selena and her father Damon Frasier, Sadie is a genuine Celebrity Royal Princess. Sadie wanted to act even when she was still a baby. Her mother sometimes tell her stories that whenever she shows her videos of herself in commercials, she would giggle and jump with joy. She landed her first acting gig at the age of 4. Since her parents are busy with their own careers, Sadie grew up with multiple caretakers and her family’s trusted friend and her long time manager, Hansel Ricci to take care of her. Hansel is also Damon’s childhood friend. He did not have his own family and treated Sadie like his own daughter.             Sadie had a stable career in both modeling and acting due to her obvious talent, various experiences and connections. She was dubbed as America’s next big star, a title that she secretly hated having. She longed to be America’s biggest star when she reach the age of 18 but she never got the big break that she deserved despite all her hard work. Co-starring in romantic comedies, action films, science fiction and sexy romance films did not help her land any acting awards or her own lead role. This was not until a new genre of film was offered to her. During her 23rd birthday celebration on January 1st at her house in Beverly Hills. Since all of her friends were there to celebrate with her, Hansel asked to speak with her privately in her study. “Here you go. You have to really study for this role since this will be your first starring role,” Hansel said as he sat on a seat in front of her and placed a thick folder on top of the table. He looked around the Study that was only recently redecorated. There were floor to ceiling bookshelves on both left and right sides of the room. The shelves are filled with various books that he was sure half of which was purchased by him during his trips abroad. An oak table was placed below the Frasier’s family portrait. Everything in the room, including the crystal chandelier, screamed classic antique except for the pink wireless headphones on top of the brown table. Sadie stared at the folder behind her headphones and then at Hansel before she asked, “what did you say?” “Your own movie where you are the lead role. You’ll be the star of this movie. It’s just slightly different from your usual ones but this may even land you an acting award. It has the combination of romance, drama and suspense that people wants in a movie.” Hansel said, a-matter-of-factly while crossing his legs and tapping his fingers on top of the wooden table. Sadie blinked a few times before carefully opening the folder. She read only the title of the movie then started scanning the pages excitedly. “Thank you, Uncle! You’re really the best!” she said after a few minutes. “Happy Birthday! I already knew you got casted a week ago but I wanted this to be a surprise. Congratulations!” was her Uncle Hansel’s response. “Really? I didn’t have to audition for this role?” Her eyes were round with disbelief and Hansel couldn’t help himself but laugh at her expression. “Nope. The producer wanted you to be the lead. The producer will also be your co-star.” “Who is it?” “Elijah Martin.” “Oh.” She couldn’t help but frown as she slowly placed the folder back on the table then tried to act like she was unaffected when she heard the name. “Why that Oh and why that face? Don’t tell me you believe all those news about him.” “Well, he’s been on every celebrity newspapers and tabloids two years ago.” Sadie remembered seeing the famous male actor on every news because of a scandal that almost destroyed his name in the movie industry. “You worked with him on a commercial before and even guested on his TV show when you were twelve. You should know that those are types of propaganda to destroy careers.” Sadie was silently mulling over her manager’s words until she conceded. She sighed and nodded her head. “Well, his hiatus of two years did him good. The rumors died immediately when he said in a press conference that he’s mentally and emotionally devastated with the rumors.” “Wow. I didn’t know you’ve been keeping tabs on the male celebrities of your generation,” he said jokingly and Sadie only pouted at him. He shook his head and continued, “you said it yourself. They’re rumors. They’re groundless baseless rumors. So don’t think about not accepting this offer because this will help you both with your careers, especially since you are both child superstars. This will be good publicity and news. So stop with your, Oh and start studying that script!” “Alright! Geez, you don’t have to bite my head just because of the word, Oh.” Sadie rolled her eyes and her manager reached out to grab her hair. She just laughed and swatted his hand. It has been their banter since she was a child. “Shooting starts in September once we finalize the contract. So, are you in?” Sadie raised her left eyebrow and looked at the folder as if pondering her decision carefully, before she replied, “Given the fact that I am the star of this movie? Hell, yeah!” If Sadie only knew that her response would indeed bring her hell, she wouldn’t have accepted the offer.
