CARA
I slept all through the morning, because when I woke up, it was noon. A little past noon. I yawned and tried to stretch my body, but stopped when pain racked through me. Urghh...it was frustrating not being able to stretch. I pulled the duvet ofc to inspect my ankle. The swelling had not gone down at all but the pain was less and the colour of the skin there was an eyesore.
I leaned back and sighed, as memories of the time I had spent in the kitchen with Adrian, ran through my head.
We had interacted for just a bit, with Adrian intent on sending me back to bed as fast as he could. He didn't say much about himself, and he didn't need to. I knew him. Complete and utter womanizer he was. Always getting into trouble with women. Two thing made Adrian make headlines. Business, and women. Nothing else. And with the women....hah...it was always a mess, and I was up for it.
I hoped I would run into one of them during my stay in his house. It won't be bad to add it to my findings.
I pulled at the neck of the very comfortable tee Adrian had been so kind to bless me with. I had been thinking of how I was going to cope without clothes, when he had brought over a dozen of tees and sweatpants. And they were all new. The only issue I had now was underwear. I only had the one I had used on the day of the accident.
A knock sounded on my door. "Come in." I said, staring intently at the door, expecting Adrian. I was a little bit disappointed when Flora entered the room, beaming brightly, which made me smile.
She has an infectious personality.
"hello, Cara. How are you feeling today?" she asked, holding a wooden tray that held deliciousness. I could tell, because the smell wafted through the air, before I could see what was actually on the plate, from the position I sat on the bed.
"Like a car rammed into me." I admitted flatly. And a car did ram into me. Adrian's car.
Flora giggled and placed the tray over my thighs, motioning for me to undo the stands, which were attached to the bottom of the tray so it could stand on the bed. Brilliant.
"I'm sure you would be better, soon. Mr Nikalauo asked me to inform you that a nurse would be coming in am hour to attend to your injuries." she said, and opened the covered plates, revealing what I could only describe as 'food heaven'.
"Is he at home?" I asked, picking up a chocolate croissant. There was a little part of me that was disappointed about the fact that he didn't come to tell me himself.
She shook her head. "No. Mr Nikalauo left for work very early this morning. And he also said not to expect him, that he would be really late tonight." she said, holding the plate to her chest. My heart sank at her words. "Do you need any other thing, Cara?" she asked, looking at me expectantly.
I shook my head, taking a small bit of the croissant in my hand. It tasted so f*****g good. Enough to forgive Adrian for not being at home.
For now,I just needed to enjoy my food. "No, Flora. I'm good." I told her.
She nodded and smiled before leaving. Just as the door closed behind her, my phone rang. I picked it up and looked at the did.
Elena.
"Please...give me premium and juicy gist. How is your time living with a billionaire like?" Elena asked making me chuckle. I took a sip from the glass of orange juice Flora had brought for me.
"Come down from your high horse, sis." I scolded lightly before telling her all that had happened.
ADRIAN
I looked at my brothers as they narrated their meetings with potential investor. None had gone well. They has all rejected the offers they had given them.
I looked at the documents in front of me and sighed. "We aren't giving up. I still have a few listed out for us to check them out." I said. It was useless giving up, and would only earn me a bankrupt company.
Theo shook his head. "It's not like they don't want the offer, Adrian. They just don't want to be pulled into the mess with the Media."
I folded my arms and nodded. "And what do you suggest I do?" I asked, already tired and fed up, even if the day was not over yet. I hadn't slept much last night, all because of one woman. A woman who drove mad, frustrated the hell out of me, and still managed to go be me a hardon.
It had taken a lot of time for my c**k to turn flaccid. And now...as I thought about her, it started to stir again.
"Hire a mistress, Adrian. Use her to send the message out that you do not have commitment issues. You get to clear your name, get back your investors...and also indulge...." he let his words trail off and gave me a lopsided grin.
I rolled my eyes. "I did tell you I was in. But this whole situation with Cara, had got me in a bit of a knot. Besides, where do I get this.... mistress from?"
Leander shrugged. "Any_" his sentence was cut off by the ringing of the office telephone.
I picked it up almost immediately. I needed some good new. "Hello,? Nikalauo speaking." I said into the receiver.
"Flora speaking, Sir. Your mother just arrived_" I didn't get to hear whatever she was saying next because I had slammed the receiver down and was up ony feet.
Both Leander and Theo, spotted identical frowns on their faces at my behavior. "Is something wrong?" Leander asked as they both stood up.
I took a deep breath as my heart beat wildly under the crisp material of my office shirt. "Flora just called. Mum is at home." That was all I needed to say before we were all flying out of my office.
They understood that when she came unannounced, it spelled trouble, or mischief.
Shit!
Cara was at home.
I couldn't drive fast enough as panic filled my whole body.
Shit! s**t! s**t!
