I couldn’t believe this. Maddy… she had almost been killed by our mother. OUR MOTHER! I knew the old woman was bitter and difficult, but I had never thought she would go that far.
“I need to go now,” Lucian said before we could come up with a plan. “I’ll do my best to look after Maddy, but you all need to come up with something fast. I think they’ll do whatever it takes to get to you two.”
