“Madam court reporter, can we take a break?” James Goodwin asked after confirming with Daniel Mendoza and the barrister assigned to defend the witness deposed that day.
“When do you want to meet up again?” the court reporter asked as she removed her hands from the stenographer, took a sip of water from her bottle, and straightened things in preparation for the break.
“Dan, is fifteen minutes okay with you?” James asked, almost forgetting the barrister’s presence.
“I’m fine with fifteen minutes if… if…” Daniel forget the barrister’s name and paused.
Realizing the awkwardness but wanting to take a break, the barrister interjected, “Fifteen minutes is fine.” He walked out with the witness and entered the hallway to escape.
