Chapter Five
Jasira Sanders POV
°°°
Ever since Alpha Adrian ordered me to prove my innocence, I have been nervous. Not because I am guilty of any crime. But simply because my whole family, including my father, can go to any extent to turn his lies into truth.
I knew that my father hated us, it was clear from all these years of abuse and torture. But I never expected him to falsely testify against us in front of the whole pack, and for some heinous crimes one could do. He agreed with Karen's words, and I can't explain how hurt I was and how angry I was.
It was hard to know that you are unloved, but to realize you are hated by your own father wasn't easy.
Justin doesn't understand how the situation around has toughened up. He thinks this is all just a normal day when he can wait for me, so I can play with him and help him to bed, telling him stories.
The days have passed by quickly, and tomorrow Adrian Crestwood will be summoning us to prove our innocence. And this is the alpha's trial, where death punishment will be given in a blink of an eye if the alpha catches us in a lie.
If we can't prove that we are not guilty, I'm not sure what the punishment will be, considering all the tales around the Crestwood Brothers and how they are known to be the cruelest werewolves ever lived
“You know that we wouldn't hurt anyone, right?
Karen lied in front of the Dark moon pack's alpha. You know that, right?” I asked Bertha, knowing if anyone in our pack will be willing to help us out is her.
Only her.
And she nods
“What happened? Who killed the young girl from the Dark Moon pack? Please, I want to know the truth. Because no one around is willing to even see my face. They want me gone.” I ask her, holding back the tears, knowing that the whole pack will gang up with Karen just to bait me out as a criminal.
“It was Gavin and his friends who have fled the pack and are in hiding. Karen doesn't want to agree to the truth because Felicia threatened to kill herself if Gavin's name is revealed.” Bertha speaks out, her voice coming out weak.
And I nod.
I had guessed it, Gavin disappearing as soon as the war broke out was a surprise. But he knew that he had no choice in front of the Crestwood Brothers. However, how can Felicia still take her mate's side? Is this what mate bond is all about? He is a murderer. Yet, she wants to save him?
“Will you testify the truth?” I ask her, my voice coming out weak like a whisper as I plead to her.
“I know you will be put against Karen and probably the whole pack will turn their backs against you if you help us out. But I have no choice but to seek your help.
Please, will you?” I beg her, folding my hands as tears roll down my eyes.
“Jasi…
Jasi…
You said we could play.” Justin barges in, clapping his hands to see me standing outside his room.
And I quickly wipe away the tears as I nod at my brother.
Bertha doesn't answer me, I know she wishes me kindly. But I also know that this is too much to ask from her. After all, us omegas are the punching bags of the packs.
So, I grab my brother's hand to leave, hoping that the moon Goddess will treat us at least fair when it comes to other people's lies and will not curse us with their sins.
But she has already given us enough reasons to know that she hates me and my brother. So, what's the point?
“I'll speak the truth.”
Bertha speaks out, her voice coming out soft yet determined.
And I gasped, not knowing I was holding back my breath.
I look at her, thankful for her, knowing her speaking truth will save mine and my brother's lives.
But I'm already afraid what will happen if the truth comes out. Felicia is crazy, and she can do anything to get what she wants.
And now, the clock is ticking.

Bertha (Old Omega) POV
I hold back the tears as I see Jasira and her brother leave. I'm not confident why they are mistreated by their father when they are carrying his alpha blood.
Justin is different, and I wish that child the best, knowing he's the purest soul I have ever met. But it's Jasira, the way she's treated so badly around the pack yet all she thinks is how to help others, help her brother.
She's nineteen, and she was only twelve when she lost her mother, Mira, who was one of the most loved of Luna.
Mira always treated everyone with respect and dignity, that she wasn't concerned about status.
Being an omega is hard in any pack, but with Mira, like a mother to the entire pack, she made sure all the omegas were taken care of.
I return to the omega quarters, the war has silenced for a bit. But I am aware that the entire pack is waiting to see what Adrian Crestwood, the dark moon pack's alpha, is going to speak tomorrow.
The dark moon pack can easily defeat us. With Oliver Crestwood back from the mountains, all the neighboring packs have been alerted that the Crestwood Brothers are together, which means there is nothing stopping their way. The triplets alphas are undefeated.
If me speaking the truth will save two young, innocent children's lives, I would.
I would be happy to do so. Jasira is only a few years older than my grandson, who has gone away for training. I can't imagine any harm to him and similarly, I treat Jasira as my grandkid as well.
“You f*****g bitch.”
I hear a raged curse and I wince as I turn around to see Karen and Felicia standing at the door.
“Luna, how can I help you?” I quickly bowed my head, showing my respect.
“I heard you and that b***h Jasira' conversation. You are not going to speak the truth. You are my slave and you will follow our instructions.
Are we clear?' Felicia beats her mother as she barges in and points her finger at me, her words coming out threatened.
And I swallow the fear.
I should have guessed that Jasira was going to be spied on.
“I'm sorry, princess Felicia. I have already given my word, and I'm going to speak the truth.” I stick to my words, knowing I can take their curses and mean treatment.
Not only that, but I can endure all their insults and beatings if needed to save the innocent ones.
“No, you are not.”
This time it's Luna Karen who speaks up.
“Don't you want to see your grandson Harry come back to the pack alive? Or you want to see his dead body carried from the training camp?” Karen questions as she steps forward.
And hearing my grandson's name, my worst fear came true.
“Please, Luna. My grandson is innocent.” I beg, knowing she will go to any extent to prove her words.
“Well, I know. But to let him be free it's going to cost you, your Silence.
Do you still want to testify the truth, Bertha?" Karen questions, and I notice how Felicia is smirking.
And my chest aches as I shake my head, afraid.
“Good, omega. Good. My guards will watch you until the meeting tomorrow.
And at the alpha's chamber, you will testify for us.
Blaming those bastards and calling them criminals.” Karen curses out as she looks down at me with menace in her eyes.
And she leaves along with her daughter Felicia who has the last laugh.
I try to leave so I can inform Jasira
But Karen's guards lock me up inside the room, giving me no chance.
