Chapter 14
Surfacing
(Esha’s POV)
The darkness was endless, thick and heavy, pressing down on me like a weight I couldn’t shake. My limbs felt like they were submerged in quicksand, every attempt to move sluggish and futile. It was terrifying, being stuck in this void, trapped inside my own mind. I wanted to scream, but no sound came out. I wanted to fight, but my body wouldn’t obey.
And then, somewhere in that suffocating blackness, I heard a voice. Low, insistent, like a thread of light weaving through the dark. The words were unclear, jumbled together, but there was something about that voice—something familiar. It made me want to hold on, to reach for it, but every time I tried, it slipped through my fingers like smoke.
