"I'm sorry, what did you just say?" I asked Barrett to repeat himself because I couldn't really hear him clearly for the first time. Did he mention my mother?
"Katherine gave me a call a week ago and she invited me to stay here for a while so I can convince you to get married. I know it sounds all crazy but...she isn't wrong." Barrett said with a shrug like this was something so casual to bring up.
"I can't believe she did this..." I scoffed before turning away from Barrett and looking outside the window in my office. She had been behind me for so long but I never thought it was this serious.
